Los Angeles is a city of celebrities, a glamours lifestyle and a few over paid actors, but that is the lifestyle that one of Britains best exports will adopt after signing a one and half million pound record deal with EMI Music. Here we have an exclusive interview with this export himself DJ Rumbo....

Q: So Rumbo, your a local Birmingham lad, how are you looking to make it big in the States ?A: Well, it seems that everybody throughout the UK seems to like my mix of being called a DJ and not really producing DJ music, which I think makes me pretty unique, so I intend to carry on the way that I have started back here.

Q: With EMI Music being such a hugh record company in the music industry, it was more than likely that the press would be tipped off about your deal, how did it come around that EMI had offered you such a lucrative deal ?A: Well, I was actually attending a football match for my local side, when I got a call from my agent, and he just told me that EMI were interested in my talent and would like to have a chat with me and it just went on from there.

Q: When are you looking to release your first hit in America ?A: Well, im due to fly out to America next week to discuss a few personal matters with EMI, and then I have a few advertising deals lined up and these campaings will be released at around about the same time as my first single over their, which should be around about May, and although im not meant to tell you about this part but an album is planned to be released in the summer !

Q: What sort of advertising deals can we expect to see you in ?A: Ha ha ha, i’ve been informed not to release the name of the company(s) I will be advertising for, but I can give you the field in which they advertise in which are; a mobile phone network and a sports brand.

Q: Can we expect to see any concerts/gigs being held in America from you ?A: EMI havent planned any for me as of yet, but I suppose it all depends on my success over their.

Q: You are fairly new on-to the music screen, but already you have made a huge name for yourself, when out and about round Birmingham do you think that everybody

knows who you are ?A: I love going out into Birmingham on a summers afternoon to a spot of shopping, and i’m always getting stopped for photos and autographs but it’s something that I enjoy doing and i’d never say no to a fan if they wanted something like that, after all the fans are what have made me so big, so i owe them alot.

Q: What was life like for you as a kid ?A: Erm..., I was actually quite academic and did A-Levels and could of quite easily have gone onto University, but music was something I was particularly fascinated by so after college i chose to go into music technology and it all just went from there. In terms of friends and family, I was brought up in the Kings Heath area and lived with both my parents and a younger sister, and I must thank both of my parents for giving me such a good up-bring-ing, because without them I doubt I would be where I am today.

Q: What sort of feelings do you have, whenever you return to Birmingham ?A: At the moment Birmingham is going through a real re-development, but I think that its such a great City to vist, but I always get this really proud feeling whenever I travel back to my roots in Birmingham.

Q: Another famous artist that produces similar music to yourself, is Mike Skinner, who is also from Birmingham, do you see yourself as arch rivals ?A: Well when I was alot younger and he first came onto the scene, he was somebody in which I kind of idolised and saw as inspiration, and I still now feel the same way, but we don’t have any rivalry what so ever, we are just two guys from Birmingham that are trying to make a living, we have met a few times actually and we have got a long quite well, but I suppose its because we share the same sort of interests.

Q: Do you think we could see a collaboration of DJ Rumbo and Mike Skinner in the future ?A: You guys have some great ideas !!, On a serious note though, it would be a really good idea but at the moment both of us are just focusing on producing our own records.

Q: Will there be any collaborations in the near future with a top star ?A: Erm....no, unless EMI have got something already lined up for me, but even if they did I doubt it would happen

straight away.

Q: Will you be looking to break into other countries by using America as your stage to make it big ?A: At the moment im just happy to be a big name in myown country and attempting to make it big in America, which takes alot, but perhpas if I do make it big over there then alot more countries will start to notice me.

Q: You haven’t long released only your first album, is it possible to see an album released in the next few months ?A: No, I doubt it unless I work on it day and night, be-cause im attempting to make it big in America, when I do release an album, I want to make sure that its the best it can possibly be, so I think that we won’t be seeing an album from myself, not until early 2010 at the very least.

Q: Now lets talk about things on the girl front! Are the rumours true that you and Nadine Coyle, from Girls Aloud, have been seeing eachother?A: The newspapers really do catch you out sometimes,me and Nadine are just very close friends if you know what i mean! (laughs), but I wouldn’t say no, if you know what i mean! (laughs very loud).

Q: On the subject of Girls Aloud, what do you think of the rest of the group!?A: Hahahaha, they are all very good looking members, if thats the sort of answer you were looking for!

Q: We all know about your success, how has all this affected your lifestyle ?A: Well, im much better off now and so are my

family, i’ve got a nice home and a couple of nice mo-tors, so I think that overall, it has been a great benefit

to me and my family.

Q: What motors do you own then ?A: I own a Mercedes ML320, Range Rover Sport, Ford Mustang, but I only use that for special occasions, and I also own a Mini Cooper S. People always laugh when I tell them I own a Mini, I don’t know why though !?

Q: Have you had any unusual encounters with fans? A: Erm.... One time I was in Birmingham City Centre, and a fan ran up to me and tryed to rugby tackle me down accusing me of not saying hello to her, but I was more than happy to pose for a picture with her !

Q: And our final question to you is, are there any mes-sages you would like to say to your fans ?A: I would just like to thank them for my support so far and I hope that they continue to support me throughout the future and during my time in America. They clearly love the music i give them right now, and i hope to continue doing what i do for a very long time, i love my fans and cant thank them enough for all the support they have given me.
