A Serif font is used for the masthead. But instead Of simply typing out ‘the word’, it has been made into a design logo. Also, a button has been added over the title saying ‘Music magazine of the Year -Again’. This adds credibility to the magazine and will persuade the customer to buy the magazine.

In the main image the models are looking directly at the camera. This eye contact draws the reader in and gives a direct feel to the magazine.

The colour yellow has been used three times on the cover with the selling line, the main kicker and a smaller kicker. This is an accent colour that is repeated just like the other main colours of red, white and black

Eye flow-

There is very clear use of eye flow on this cover. The readers eye starts at the bold title, works down to the model on the rights eye, draws down to the kickers on the left and ends off near the barcode and smaller kickers on the right.

Main Image

The Masthead of Q Magazine is simply one letter and is designed more like a logo than a title. This is very different to most other music magazines as mastheads normally stretch all the way across the top of the page rather than just placed in the left corner.

The cover lines are in the left third of the page. However they are also quite different from other magazine. Instead of having a bold kicker with a slightly small explanatory text below, these cover lines are of all different sizes and colours, different stories divided by a bold red line. The artist name is in bold white text, with bits of explanatory text in italic red or white.

The main image is straight on with the models looking straight at the camera. This is pretty average with a magazine cover photo as eye contact draws the reader in and connects with the audience.

The button is quite different from most magazine buttons which usually advertise a free gift or competition. Instead it is telling the audience about great music they are covering inside the magazine. They have rated the bands albums 5 starts and are using this to persuade the reader to read because of its quality music content.

The selling line on Q is very large and bold to stand out. It is at the top of the page so it is one of the first things you read and it gives the magazine authenticity and recognition to persuade the customer to buy it.

The rule of three colours is continued throughout the cover, on the cover lines, title and button.
