  • Introduction and Aims of Program Welcome to the FUSION Performing Arts Program – Specialist Dance/Drama and Music program for Year 7 students. A program that inspires, excels and enriches students’ lives in countless ways.

The FUSION Performing Arts Program at Narre Warren South P-12 Collegeis separated into 2 steams; Dance/Drama and Music. Students have the ability to choose which steam they would like to focus on. Each stream consists of a home group which runs on a slightly altered timetable allowing students to develop their artistic talents while concurrently receiving their secondary education.

The FUSION home groups will attend core subjects but will be supplemented by a creative and exciting classroom music curriculum, an extensive instrumental music and ensemble program, or a dance/drama curriculum offering an extensive practical program.

We believe the Performing Arts not only promotes higher academic performance but is an intrinsically enriching and a rewarding experience. It has been well documented that learning Performing Arts at school is beneficial for students. From higher academic scores, co-ordination, perseverance, team work, reading, comprehension, concentration, self-expression and enhanced social skills.

The FUSION program aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop their Performing Arts talents and provide innovative and contemporary music education integrated in their academic studies.

  • FUSION Performing Arts runs from Year 7 to Year 9. Students entering the program at Year 7 are encouraged to stay in the program until the end of Year 9. FUSION will put into practice processes that significantly raise the standards and learning outcomes for students who want to focus their educational studies in Performing Arts. The curriculum is built around the AusVELs, and provides pathways into Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) and Vocational Education and Training Courses (VET).

AUSVels includes the Australian Curriculum learning standards for English, Maths and Science within the structure of the Victorian Essentials Learning Standards. In developing student learning programs and organisational options for Years 7 to 10, Narre Warren South P-12 College ensures all students have access to the full range of domains covered in AUSVels. Significantly raise the standards and learning outcomes for students who want to focus their educational studies in Music.

    Instrumental Lessons

As part of the program all students will have regular lessons on a Brass or Woodwind instrument and will be expected to be part of the FUSION ensemble. Students in the FUSION program receive free lessons for the year on their chosen Brass or Woodwind instrument. The College is fortunate to enjoy the services of many talented and highly qualified classroom and instrumental music tutors, who tutor our students on a wide range of instruments. Students may choose to study additional instruments at a reduced fee.

These instruments include but are not limited to; voice, guitar, bass guitar, flute, clarinet, alto and tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano and percussion.

All students learning an instrument will be expected to participate in the appropriate ensemble such as Vocal groups, Junior Concert band, Senior Concert band, Wind ensemble, Guitar and Drum ensembles.

    Why choose Fusion?
