July 21 through November 4, 2012
A TREASURE HOUSE OF MARCCHAGALL’S ART, INCLUDING FIRSTLOCAL SHOWING OF HIS BIBLESERIES OF HAND-COLOREDETCHINGS
Throughout a long and distinguished
career, Marc Chagall incorporated
facets of his early Russian-Jewish
heritage into multilayered works. His
storytelling paintings portray a fantastic
world where people and animals float
upside down or sideways, irrespective of
the laws of gravity, and couples are
always in love. Chagall’s brilliantly-
colored memories of family and village
life are set amidst the houses and
streets of his native Vitebsk. MarcChagall is a major exhibition which
features significant paintings and a large
selection from Chagall’s 1957 hand-
colored etchings of Bible stories, never
before been seen on Long Island. The
exhibition is supported by the Saltzman
Family Foundation and The David Berg
Foundation.

Sydney Chastain-Chapman & Julie TremblayJuly 21 through November 4, 2012
Julie Tremblay and Sydney Chastain-Chapman are New York artists whose work
has been seen in solo and group exhibitions in North America and Europe.
Tremblay’s life-sized sculptures are created from discarded industrial materials
that allow the viewer to look within the work, making the inside as important as
the outside. Working in a flat, representational style, Chastain-Chapman’s work
uses vibrant hues to depict the figures and settings of her paintings. This
exhibition is organized for the Contemporary Collectors Circle by Elaine Berger.

Museum Council Seeing art not otherwise open to the public is among the very special privileges of
membership in our Museum Council. Under the leadership of Corrine Paston, the
Museum Council offers its members unique experiences in art viewing and
collecting. Upcoming trips include exclusive viewings at ArtHamptons, this year
celebrating Jackson Pollock’s centennial, and visits to the Museum of Art and
Design and the new Philadelphia home of the famed Barnes Collection. Museum
Council is our most distinctive level of membership. This key group of dedicated
members provides critical support for all aspects of the Museum’s operations.
For further information about membership in the Museum Council,

Thank YouIn honor of the 2012 Museum Ball,
Ambalu Jewelers, the sparkling East

socializing and shopping to benefit the
museum. Twenty percent of all

museum. Iman Bridal Couture
contributed magnificent evening wear
and Atelier Hair Salon did hair and

board and staff of the museum are
grateful to Jacob and Esther Ambalu for
their generosity and gracious hospitality. Docents
We wonder how many people know just
how much training museum docents
undergo prior to offering those informative
gallery talks that add so much to the
appreciation of our exhibitions. Our most
recent graduating class of eight docents
completed an extensive program that spanned two exhibitions and six months.
Shown at graduation are Glenna Kubit, Stephanie Freese, Linda Schwartz, Kavita
Gonsalves, Ricki Miller, Kathryn Tully and Irene Grossman (not pictured, Florence

Education Laura Lynch at [email protected].

CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP
The Museum’s Corporate Membership, co-chaired by Michael D. Brown and Robert O. Mayer, is an important group of supporters
who sponsor fundraising events and gather regularly at the Museum for congenial evenings of networking. Recently, the group
hosted a wine and cheese reception to view Sculpture / Jim Dine / Pinocchio. They are planning another special event around the
Chagall exhibition. Corporate members are also planning to hold the second annual Casino Night during November.
Corporate Membership is recognized in Muse News, in lobby signage and listed on the Museum’s website – with a company logo
and link to the company’s website for upper-level members. For full benefits of membership at all levels, please log on to

EDUCATION Autism & the ArtsAutism & the Arts is a studio based program that offers young people on the autism
spectrum innovative explorations in painting, drawing, and sculpture focused on the
development of artistic style and voice. Activities are designed to inspire creativity
and motivate communication, and many classes include group art-making activities
that support participants with peer interaction. This program is made possible
through generous funding through the North Shore Autism Circle.
