    5. Schoolreformneedstobebasedonhighexpectationsandrigorousstandardsforalllearners.

    becauseitspowerfultohearwhattheyresaying.Often,whattheyresayingcanthenbeusedintheir

    educationtoaddresstheissuesbroughtup.TheonlyantiracistteachingIamfamiliarwitharefrom

    thesociologyclassItookincollege.ImustadmitthatIampartoftheteacherswhoexperience

    discomfortintheclassroomwhenitsbroughtup,simplybecausenobodyhaseverreallytaughtme

    howtodosoinadelicatemanner.

    Criticalpedagogyisacknowledgingdiversityofallkindsinsteadofsuppressingorsupplantingit(pg.

    433).Itencouragescriticalthinking,reflectingandactiontobeskills.Ourstudentsneedtobeableto

    dothis,andbeintroducedtovaryingviewpointinordertobecomesuccessfulmemberofour

    democraticsociety.Studentsusetheirknowledgeasabase,butthenbuilduponit.
