The Test Specifications for the Listening Paper:
1 Listening
Candidates are assessed on their ability to comprehend various types of oral texts ofvarying length and level of complexity (content and language).
Assessment will cover the following:

MUET Paper 1: Listening(30 minutes)
Candidates will be required to listen to recorded texts twice and answer questions on
them.

There is a total of 20 questions consisting of information transfer, short-answer questions,
3-otion multile-choice questions and !-otion multile-choice questions.
MUET Paper 2: Speaking(30 minutes)
Candidates will be required to erform two tas"s# indi$idual resentation and grouinteraction.
%or the indi$idual resentation, candidates will be gi$en 2 minutes to reare for thegi$en tas" and 2 minutes to resent. Candidates will also listen to the other candidates
while the& are ma"ing their resentations and ta"e down notes for the grou interaction.
%or the grou interaction (! to a grou), candidates will be gi$en 2 minutes to reare
oints to suort or oose the other candidates' $iews. fter listening to e$er&one in the
grou, candidates will tr& to come to a consensus. The grou will be gi$en 0 minutes forthe grou interaction.
MUET Paper 3: Reading(*0 minutes)
This aer comrises !+ multile-choice questions based on assages from texts which
ma& be ta"en from ournals, newsaers, magaines, and academic and electronic
sources. uestions are in the form of 3-otion multile-choice and !-otion multile-
choice questions.
MUET Paper 4: Writing(*0 minutes)
This aer comrises two writing tas"s# transferring information from a non-linear source
to a linear text and a iece of extended writing. The stimulus ma& ta"e the form of linear
and/or non-linear texts.
