We are pleased to present our Newsletter of Maharaja Surajmal Institute. MSI acknowledges that education is an ongoing and interactive process which chisels the personality of an individual.
It is my great pleasure to extend heartfelt greetings to the readers of this newsletter. Looking back, MSI has seen a number of important developments throughout the year. MSI has become a dynamic venue where brilliant minds from all over the country converge and share their values and culture. The true essence of education is to create an environment to nurture and explore the mental ability, to build a character sensitive human being in addition to imparting a technical education.
It is my pleasure to put before you the snapshot of activities and events through this newsletter. I am grateful for the support of students, alumni, colleagues and faculty members in the last year. The college Newsletter is a showcase of the activities and events that are taking place in our college which provides a platform for highlighting the merits and Academic Achievements of the institute. I am confident that this newsletter would definitely create a positive impact on the minds of the reader by the way of providing larger visibility.
I must acknowledge the Editorial team for their successful accomplishment of the work which not only raises the awareness of important issues but also gives the new insight about the institute. orIeNTATIoN ProGrAmme
The objectives of the programme is to make the students feel comfortable in their new environment, open them up, develop awareness, sensitivity and understanding of the self, people
around them, society at large and nature. Maharaja Surajmal Institute organised an Orientation Programme for the session 2018-19 on 1st August 2018. Prof. (Dr.) Rachita Rana, Director, MSI, while delivering her speech shared brief history of SMES and its vision and mission. Parents and students were briefed about the functioning of institute. Prof. Rana also announced that the institute is going to introduce Law and MBA programme in near future. She further elaborated why MSI is one of the most prestigious institute affiliated by GGSIPU.
ANNUAL DAY
Maharaja Surajmal Institute celebrated its Annual Day on January 12, 2019. The programme commenced with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Hon’ble chief guest Prof. Devi Singh, Former Director, IIM-L. The Annual Prize Distribution function was a moment of pride and honour for all the winners and achievers of the Institute. The students who secured first, second and third position were awarded with certificates and prize money for their commendable performance in academics and sports activity.

With the objective of developing a sound mind with a sound physical health, overall personality of students is dealt with prime priority at MSI. We emphasize on Sports and allied activities keeping a pace with academics. The college encourages students to attain sporting excellence and provides all the necessary facilities and equipment to the students for maintaining physical fitness and good health.

Every year we organize various intra-mural competitions of cricket, volleyball, football, badminton, table tennis, chess and carom for boys and girls. The annual sports meet for the academic year 2018-2019 was organized on 7th and 8th Jan. 2019 at college sports ground.
ANNUAL cULTUrAL FeST: GeNeSIS 2019
Maharaja Surajmal Group of Institutions organized its Annual Cultural Fest “GENESIS 2K 19” on 11th January 2019. The festival witnessed enthusiastic volunteering and participation by students, on intra-college as well as inter-college level for the entire range of events. The fest included the splendid blend of more than 10 events covering rangoli, face painting, street play, mono-acting, solo song (Indian), solo song (Western) solo dance, group dance and Mr. & Miss Genesis.

To celebrate the Birth centenary of Dr. Sarup Singh on 15th January 2019 an Inter-college debate was organized on the topic “Economic Condition should be the Basis of Reservation”
NATIoNAL coNFereNce oN INDIA’S YeS To meGA reFormS: ISSUeS, cHALLeNGeS AND ImPLIcATIoNS (FUTUre oF Work & 4TH INDUSTrIAL reVoLUTIoN)
MSI organized one day national conference on India’s yes to mega reforms: issues, challenges and implications (future of work & 4th industrial revolution) on 23rd February, 2019. Prof. K.K. Aggarwal, the chief guest delivered the inaugural address. Dr. R.D. Sharma, guest of honour discussed about industrial revolution and reforms and its mega impact on human life.
NATIoNAL coNFereNce oN QUALITY ASSUrANce IN HIGHer eDUcATIoN: PrAcTIceS AND ISSUeS
MSI organized two day national conference on Quality Assurance in Higher Education: Practices and Issues (Sponsored by National Assessment and Accreditation Council) on 16th and 17th May 2019. Prof. R.K. Mittal, Prof. K.P Singh, Prof. Sushila Madan, Prof. Namita Rajput graced the occasion with their presence.
FDP oN ASSUrING QUALITY IN HIGHer eDUcATIoN: INNoVATIoN & cHALLeNGeS
Maharaja Surajmal Institute organised one week faculty development programme on the topic Assuring Quality in Higher Education: Innovation & Challenges from 17- 21 July 2018. The one week FDP commenced with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony proceeded by Inaugural Speech by Prof. Veera Gupta. She explained that FDP has two main purpose-own growth and to improve the growth of education. Prof. J. P. Singh, Prof. Rachita Rana,Prof. N. P. Singh, Dr. Harish Chaudary, Prof. M. C. Sharma, Prof. K. P. Chaudhary and Dr. Angel Ratnabai were amongst the other speakers who addressed the gathering with their thought provoking ideas.

FDP oN coNTemPorArY ISSUeS AND cHALLeNGeS IN mANAGemeNT, eDUcATIoN AND INFormATIoN TecHNoLoGY
Faulty Development Programme on Contemporary Issues and Challenges in Management, Education and Information Technology was organized from February 5-9, 2019. The prime focus of the FDP was to develop the insight so that the contemporary issues could be handled meticulously through analytical thinking and equal importance is given to inculcate values among students for creating a better society and nation as a whole.
SkILL DeVeLoPmeNT ProGrAm
SDP on Digital Marketing , Advance Excel Business Analytics, Machine learning using Python and Ethical Hacking were organized by the institute. The focus of SDP was building upon the needed industry skillset. MSI endeavours to make available skill acquisition program, under which students are skilled to be an industry ready resource, thereby ensuring an industry relevant candidature.

The main objective of organizing workshops, special lectureand seminars for students is to make them acquainted with the conceptual as well as practical knowledge on various existing and emerging subjects. MSI organized 14 workshops, 7 special lectures and 7 seminars in previous academic session.
