Murray & Richardson (2002), Fast Forward: Organisational Change in 100 Days, Oxford University Press, NY. (p.35)

Principle Belief
• It is a birthright of every child to be successful.
• All adults must do everything in their power to ensure that they fulfill this right.
Ten (10) Characteristics to Lead like a Champions
1. Personally grounded through values, and not through situations
• Strong personal values;
• Consistent;• Genuine;• Authentic.
2. Influence though love, and not through power
• Sincere;• human
endeavour above authority;
• Don’t seek power in spite of love.
3. Pursue mutual value, and it is not about self-serving.
• Win-win proposition;
• Greater good over selfish power;
• More trusted.
4. Drive transformation and not transaction
• Hunger for change;• Don’t stop after
transaction;• Redefine their terrain;• Don’t focus on game-
change but rather change the game;
• Create organisational alertness (agility).
5. Embrace the Mission, and not just the role
• Not good roleplayers;
• Connect to a ‘movement’ since work is beyond a salary;
• Not limited to their role.
6. Are operational and visionary, not either operational or visionary.
• See the value in both vision and execution;
• Know vision without action damages trust;
• Know action without vision is ‘blind loyalty’ (taking chances);
• Don’t looses sight of the ultimate beneficiaries.
7. Are not defined, nor limited by circumstance
• Energised by new challenges;• Have staying power;• Are resilient and able to
withstand toughest challenges towards success;
• Remain steady and poised in extreme situations;
• Not defined by circumstances.
8. Are emotional, and not guarded.
• Transparent and vulnerable;• Invite others through their
passion;• Emotional energy ignite
others;• Emotions don’t impede
logical thinking;• Manage both emotions and
logic;• Ability to connect with
others.
9. Are curious systems, and not linear thinkers
• Think beyond ‘problem-solving’, but solutions;
• Want to know what preceded problem and what will happen after;
• Know the entire system and all its parts;
• Bring new level of creativity to problems and new innovations behind compelling opportunities.
10. Are fully present in every moment, and not consumed by multi-tasks
• They are fast-taskers not multi-taskers;
• Focuses on one task at a time to improve spread and quality of output;
• Fully present in every interaction.
ConclusionMyths of Being Human
1. Competition vs. Cooperation;
3. Connectedness vs. Disconnectedness;
5. Caring vs. Selfishness.
