Mrs. Yeates Class Classroom Newsletter December 2, 2016 Dates to Remember -Dec. 7 th - NO Bus Home -Dec. 8 th – Feast of Immaculate Conception, School Mass @ 1:30pm -Dec.15 th - Christmas Program @ 6pm at ONU Chapel Theme: Next week we will be talking about the REAL meaning of Christmas and how God sent his son Jesus to us as a gift as our Savior!!!! “Cookie The Bear” Harper Ahramovich is the lucky girl who gets to take care of “Cookie” this weekend. Classroom News The students had so much fun this week reading five different versions of The Gingerbread Man . Then we compared what was the “same” and “different” in each story on our story chart. Then on Friday, the students were VERY excited to roll out their very own gingerbread cookie with cookie cutters. Then they decorated them, baked them and got to eat them after nap time. What an exciting Friday! Zipping, buttoning and snapping- One of the goals in Pre-K is to prepare them for kindergarten, which requires students to be a little more independent. Some of those skills include zipping, buttoning, and snapping. We will be starting a “celebration station” in which each student who shows mastery of each of these skills will be able to sign their name to our chart showing they have something to “celebrate”! Please practice with your child at home to help them get a head start on feeling the “joy of success”. “Gingerbread Houses – All of you should have received a “Gingerbread” letter today describing our fun on Friday, December 16th and the items your child needs to bring. We are excited to have guests come to our classroom that Friday to help us build our gingerbread houses. Many of you have asked if it is okay to have a grandparent or aunt/uncle take your place. That is totally fine!! I understand that work schedules are hard to change. They will enjoy it! Everything will be set up and ready to go. Everyone can check in at the office and then head down to our classroom around 10:15am. We will get started once everyone arrives. It will just be a time of Christmas “fun”. Please make sure your child has his/her items they were asked to bring at school before Friday. Thank You!!!
