7th grade vs. 8th grade7th GRADE science
Organization, keeping a notebook of activities and notes is stressed.
Content mainly in earth science. It’s been studied at some level in the past. (spiral curriculum)
Working with the scientific/engineering process
Looking at the big picture and analyzing what scientists do and digging deeper into problems and how to solve them.
7th grade vs. 8th grade8th GRADE science
Build on the organization of 7th grade.
Content is complex and brand new in almost all lessons and is vocabulary heavy.
Students independently complete lab write ups and can work through the engineering design process independently.
More homework, more tests, moving at a faster pace.
Utilizes math skills
Science FairMandatoryPaper work to help students through each step of the process (online in the Bogle Parent/Student section and on my webpage)In junior high, much of the work is completed at home.Students will have computer lab time in class.Thumb driveBoard to be completed by the winners only this year.

AZ Standards & Testing
Except for 8th grade science, AIMS will be replaced this year
with a new assessment that aligns better with the rigor of the new
standards. At this time, we do not know what this test will be.
