Thomas, Comspondent Phone OB 8-7101 M Mrs. Joseph Michael Sweeney A nuptial mass, Saturday noon, June 25, in Holy Family Church united in marriage Miss Ann Cheryl Averill and Joseph Michael Sweeney. The bride is the daughter of M r , and Mrs. Russell H. Morton of Casnovia. Dr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Sweeney of Mount Pleasant are the parents of the groom. Miss Averill wore and ivory silk organza gown with lace and pearls bordering the empire bodice and repeated on the A-line skirt and Chapel train. An organza rose with lace and pearl accents held her veil and she carried a colonial bouquet of daisies. Mrs. Norm Browning of Midland was Honor attendant and Mrs. John Tysse of Cedar Springs and Miss Sharon Morton of Casnovia were bridesmaids. They wore gowns of yellow voile embroidered with yellow and white daisies. Veiled headpieces and ball arrange- ments of yellow and white daisies completed their costumes. Serving as Best Man was James Sweeney of Mount Pleasant. Ushers were Tom Sweeney of Cleveland, Ohio, Gene Ragland of Durand, and Royal Klein of Grand Rapids. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Patterson were Master and Mistress of ceremonies for the reception in the Sparta Civic Center. Mr, and Mrs. Sweeney will make their home in Mount Pleasant, - Photo by DeVos The Garden Club will hold its annual breakfast meeting at 9 a.m. Monday, July 11, at the home of Mrs, Clare Reyburn with Mrs. Ro- bert Kriger as co-hostess, Mrs, Bernice Swanson was in- jured in a car accident Tuesday evening. She is in St. Mary's hos- pital with her right shoulder and left arm broken and other injuries. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Klein, who live in California, have been visiting relatives here for two weeks. They left Sunday, accom- panied by Mrs. Lois Klein, for the east, where they spent a few days and, from there, left Friday for a tour of Europe. They expect to return July 29. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Middleton, who were married June 25, are living in the Swanson house on Rusco road recently vacated by the Douglas Weston family. Mrs. Frank Thomas, Mrs. Harry Saur, Elizabeth and Annabelle attended the final meeting of the Casnovia Ladies Literary Club which was a " salad smorgasbord* on Tuesday at the home of Mrs, Ivan Emeric, The program was given by Mrs, Edwin Clute, who talked on wild flowers and Mrs, Emeric whose topic was roses, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vanden Heuvel and family returned home Sunday after a two week vacation at Bills Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Don Matthews and daughters are on a month's trip to C alifornia. Dr. and Mrs. Austin Smith are spending a week near Traverse City, Mr, and Mrs, Ralph White spent Friday andSaturday with Frank and Louise Thomas. They left early Sunday morning for Higgins Lake, where Helen expects to stay for two weeks with her daughter-in- law, Mrs. Ed White, and children. John Austin is spending several weeks in Battle Creek helping to set up a new store there. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Afton and children returned home Monday after spending a week at Oxbow Park at Hardy Dam. The play was put on to two packed houses September 29 and 30, 1927, and the p roceeds w e r e applied to the Methodist Church building fund, fo r , at that t ime, they were building the p re sen t church .

M r s . Ward Johnson of Casnovia h a s just received a l is t of the medals won by her son, S /Sgt . Richard J . McKelvey, who was killed April 17, 1965, In an auto accident while s t a -t ioned at George Air F o r c e Base , Vic torvi l le , Ca l i fo rn ia . He had s e r v e d in the Navy fo r 10 yea r s and the Air F o r c e for nine y e a r s .

Medals he won a r e the Good Con-duct Medal, Asiat ic Pac i f i c C a m -paign Medal, World War II Victory Medal , Navy Occupation Service with European Clasp, China Service Medal and National Defense Serv ice Meda l .
