MOUNTAIN BIKE FACILITY - SITE ANALYSIS The Town of Cambridge recently undertook a recreational cycling strategy which included community consultation. Results from the consultation indicated a strong demand for mountain bike facilities within the Town. A number of potential locations were identified from the consultation and three sites have been selected by the Town as the most feasible. These sites have been analysed for their strengths and weaknesses below. Your feedback is encouraged on the suitability of these 3 options via the online survey on the Town’s website: www.cambridge.wa.gov.au/mountainbike 1 2 3 OLD SKYLINE DRIVE IN SITE OPTION 1 EMPIRE PARK ~775m PROS Located on ToC Public Open Space Topography favours beginner / intermediate riders Close to Empire Village facilities & services Connects with existing cycle path along Durston Rd Low quality vegetation disturbance only Potential to connect with Option 2 CONS Short trail length only Potential for resident & park user disturbance OPTION 2 WEMBLEY GOLF COURSE ~ 2.3Km PROS Medium trail length available Topography favours beginner / intermediate riders Close to existing trails around Herdsman Lake Facilities available within Wembley Golf Course No potential for resident disturbance Pre-disturbed natural area Controlled access to regulate usage Potential to connect with Option 1 CONS Within Golf Course Land - Public access restricted OPTION 3 THE OLD SKYLINE DRIVE IN SITE ~3.2Km This site is managed by the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority (BGPA) and its use for such a purpose is not supported by the Bold Park Manage- ment Plan 2016-2021 (It has been included as a response to community interest expressed through the initial community consultation process). OPTION 1 EMPIRE PARK ~775m

PROS• Located on ToC Public Open Space• Topography favours beginner / intermediate riders• Close to Empire Village facilities & services• Connects with existing cycle path along Durston Rd• Low quality vegetation disturbance only• Potential to connect with Option 2

CONS• Short trail length only• Potential for resident & park user disturbance

OPTION 2 WEMBLEY GOLF COURSE ~ 2.3Km

PROS• Medium trail length available• Topography favours beginner / intermediate riders• Close to existing trails around Herdsman Lake• Facilities available within Wembley Golf Course• No potential for resident disturbance• Pre-disturbed natural area• Controlled access to regulate usage• Potential to connect with Option 1
