Math grade 9-2019 ACT ASPIRE TEST- Justification and Explanation were strengths with 50% scoring above ACT READINESS. Algebra was a weakness with 70 % scoring below ACT READINESS. However, grade 9 did show growth compared to their 8th grade year, 2018, where only 19% were exceeding/ready. This year they scored 35% exceeding / ready. The 10th grade increased their score from 30% exceeding / ready from 2018 to 36% exceeding /ready in 2019. Science grades 7/8 ACT ASPIRE TEST – 7th and 8th grade scored above the national average with 7th grade scoring 48% exceeding/ready and the 8th grade scoring 55% exceeding and ready. The national average is 40% grade 7 and 35% in grade 8. Reading- All scores are below the national average in every grade. English- Our English scores have generally dropped 20 percentage points for exceeding and ready from 7th/8th grade to 9th/10th grade years. The Literacy/English PLC will study data and present a detailed literacy plan to the administration and faculty. This plan will be implemented by October 1, 2019. This plan will be detailed, data driven and evidence based. Reading and writing are fundamental to education and we need a plan to give our students the best opportunity possible to be successful in the future. Science teachers will make a plan to have their students read for understanding. Example: daily, bell ringer –read, write. Reading and writing day once a week.
