Carol Dweck is a leader in the field of motivational theory and has developed a highly influential approach. Bernard Weiner also offers some very interesting comments.
Again, find some research that ‘speaks to you’ in relation to your experience.

These theories are based on a hierarchy of needs. The most common being Maslow. You might also like to consider, Alderfer’s ERG theory and the dual factor theory of Frederick Herzberg..
