From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973.

Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song &

praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled.

We hope you will visit us often and worship with us!

(If you’d like more information about us or would like to join our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket!)

NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, address and we’ll contact you about joining us.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places

    through the Immaculate Virgin Mary.

    Stewardship & Giving

MOST HOLY BODY & BLOOD OF CHRIST: “They all ate and were satisfied. And when the leftover fragments were picked up, they filled twelve wicker baskets.” (Luke 9:17). The story of the Loaves and Fishes shows us that when we share what we have, even if it doesn’t seem like that much, miracles can happen! Do not think that your gift is too small or insignificant! God blesses all the gifts we offer and makes them wondrous.

Genesis 14:18-20: Melchizedek presides over a liturgy of bread and wine, suggestive of the Christian Eucharist. Abram offers Melchizedek a tithe - one tenth of his possessions, just as one-tenth of a person’s resources were later offered to God at the temple in Jerusalem. Melchizedek has the authority to bless Abram and offers a stirring praise of God. He declares that it was God who has blessed Abram and given him victory.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26: Jesus gives thanks for the bread and shares it with his disciples. The act of sharing is central; we join together to partake of the Eucharist and become one body of Christ because of what we share. We look back in each Eucharist to the time when heaven broke through into human life, when eternity invaded our temporal existence and God became one of us.

Luke 9:11b-17: The story speaks of sharing and of nourishment, of hospitality and of providing for others. Jesus provides for the crowds by filling their spirits with teaching about God, and by healing their bodies of disease. But it concentrates on the way Jesus cares for people by providing them with food. The text does not describe how the miracle occurs. What is does teach is that we will find abundance when we include others in our embrace.

Ministers Taking Eucharist to Those Not With Us

Presider: Let us send these ministers to those who could not be with us.

Response: Receive the Body of Christ for the nourishment of those who are not here with us. Assure our friends of our prayers and blessings throughout the week.

SOCIAL JUSTICE “EAT. PRAY. VOLUNTEER.” MEETING: During our Lenten Gathering, we discussed ways to more fully meet our Social Justice Ministry Mission by offering the community opportunities to pray and volunteer. We decided to conduct a series of presentations which we’ve named “Eat. Pray. Volunteer.” The first will be 6:30pm, Thursday, Jun 27th, Si Lounge. The evening will start with a simple soup supper followed by a brief prayer service focused on the environment and ending with presentations by one or more organizations who are actively seeking volunteers to help improve the environment and/or feed the poor within our local community. The event is free and open to all – including non-QAC members. However, in order to have enough soup prepared, we ask that you please RSVP to Kevin Murnane at [email protected].

FAVORITE QUOTE: "Each of you knows that the foundation of our faith is charity. Without it, our religion would crumble. We will never be truly Catholic unless we conform our entire lives to the two commandments that are the essence of the Catholic faith: to love the Lord, our God, with all our strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves." ~ Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati

MEDITATION OF THE DAY: "We are all sinners. We have all turned away from God, but God is always ready to take us back. When we sin we hurt ourselves, we break our own hearts. God sends the Holy Spirit into our hearts to bring us forgiveness and to heal whatever damage we have done to ourselves." ~ Rev. Jude Winkler

RELIGION EXPLAINED (Sunday School students tell about the Bible): St. John, the Blacksmith, dumped water on his head. Jesus enunciated the Golden Rule, which says to do one to others before they do one to you. He

also explained, "Man doth not live by sweat alone." It was a miracle when Jesus rose from the dead and managed to get the tombstone off the

entrance. The people who followed the Lord were called the 12 decibels. The epistles were the wives of the apostles. One of the opossums was St. Matthew, who was by profession a taximan. When Mary heard that she was the Mother of Jesus, she sang the Magna Carta. St. Paul cavorted to Christianity. He preached holy acrimony, which is another name for marriage.
