SAS STAFF RECOGNITION WEEK
School Administrative and Support Staff Recognition Week 3-7 September 2018. Each year the School recognises and acknowledges the important work our School Administrative and Support Staff undertake in our school. Whether you work in the office, library, classroom or school grounds we know the work you do is vital to education. Thank you to Tiffany and Tamara and all the fantastic helpers for the terrific Father’s Day stall last week. It was a great display for the students to select from. Welcome Amy for teaching practice on 3T this term. Wellbeing Show 6 This is a great show promoting the attitudes and behaviours that each student needs to acquire, in order to be successful academically, in social interactions with others and to generally experience happiness and wellbeing within themselves. Year 3 Mogo Camp Today, year 3 set-off for their camp at Mogo Goldfields. I am sure the students will have a great time together. Student, Parent and Staff Survey – “The Tell Them From Me” Survey I am delighted that this term (as in term 1), our school, like many other public schools in the state, will participate in a Department of Education initia-tive: the Tell Them From Me student feedback survey.
This term, the student survey again aims to help improve student learning outcomes and measures factors that are known to affect academic achievement and other student outcomes. The focus of the NSW-wide survey is on student wellbeing, engagement and effective teaching practices. More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide us with valuable and quick feedback on what they think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. Schools in Australia and around the world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help improve how they do things at school. I want to assure you that the survey is confidential. The survey is conducted online and will typically take less than 30 minutes to complete. It will be administered during school hours between 27 August and 16 October. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary. A consent form and FAQs for parents/carers about the survey has been sent home with students. If you do not want your child or children to participate, please return the form to the school. Copies of the form and FAQs are available from the website above. The Partners in Learning parent feedback survey Our school will also be participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. Running this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home and parent/carer views on the

The Environmentors Workshop on water saving is happening on Tuesday
4th September for K-2 classes. The students will be learning about saving water. In this water education module, students examine through puzzles and interactive demonstrations of the water cycle how much potable water we have on earth and how we need to share this limited supply of water. Ideas to save water at home and school are role-played through activities. This workshop will be conducted in the hall.
Join us in the Kitchen garden on Thursday 6 September at 3.30pm.
Lots to do and everyone is welcome!
Pizza will be provided for all helpers.
MPS boys touch team won their match against Batemans Bay on Thursday 8-2.
The next game will be against Ulladulla.

PEER SUPPORT Why Teach Values?
Values are the tools we use to guide us through our lives. They assist us to decide what is right and how we should respond to different situations.
Week 4
Respect is the focus of the Peer Support sessions this week. Through various activities the children will be identifying what it means to have respect and discuss ways they can demonstrate respect for others. By completing a maze comprising of scenarios, the children will need to select the correct way to respond to a situation, progressing through the maze and reaching the ‘Certificate of Respect’.
Encourage your child to discuss with you different people they respect and why. It is important to remind them that although we may not always agree or get along with people, we still need to respect them.
