STEWARDSHIP

SHARING TIME, TALENT AND TREASURE

LAST WEEK’S COLLECTION

Your sacrificial giving is greatly appreciated as we strive to maintain our parish facilities and services. God bless your generosity! Due to the early transmittal of this bulletin the June 30

th

collection information will be in next week’s bulletin.

SANCTUARY FUND We continue to maintain a wish list of items (vestments, linens and sanctuary appointments) which can be purchased in memory of deceased loved ones. Please call the Parish Offices for more information. Father Cioppi has just identified some specific vestments that are needed in the parish. Please contact the Parish Offices should you wish to find out the complete details of the wish list.

MDP MASS ENROLLMENTS

Mass is offered on a Sunday of each month at Mother of Divine Providence Church for our benefactors and their intentions, including the intentions made through our Mass Enrollment program. Attractive white leatherette folders (including a photograph of our outdoor shrine of Mary, Mother of Divine Providence) are available at the Parish Offices. You may choose one of three enrollment periods (25 years, 50 years or a perpetual remembrance) with a donation of $25, $50, or $100. These Mass Enrollments and Folders are designed to honor the living, or to remember the dead. The proceeds realized from the Enrollment Program benefits our Building Fund. A memorial donation was given in memory of Sarah Ann McCormick by Bill Kelser & Family.

FROM OUR PASTOR

Dear Friends, As our parish gathers to worship God this weekend, we are not alone. Parishes across the globe are gathering as we are to give thanks and to receive the Gift God has so generously given us. “The Kingdom of God is at hand for you” is the message Jesus tells His disciples to proclaim in the places He sends them. Isaiah reveals the comfort to be found in the Kingdom of God. Over the past few weeks

027 MDP for070713

5

we have heard about the cost of discipleship. For those who repent, the kingdom of God is at hand, and today, we are given a glimpse of the rewards of discipleship. Finding inspiration from the readings today, let us not be afraid of proclaiming the same Good News to everyone. It is still our God given right to herald to the Good News in the public square! I am grateful to those who helped commemorate our nations’ FORTNIGHT FOR FREEDOM and helping our community in Upper Merion to realize the great gifts of liberty we enjoy in this country. May the summer move more slowly for you; to relax and enjoy family and friends,

Father Cioppi

I would like to welcome three new members to our work staff: Lauren Joyce has joined us a Director of Religious Education. Carol Murray has come onboard as Parish Secretary, and Jack Bellantoni is now the Principal of Mother Teresa Regional Catholic School. Our new Staff members are looking forward to working with you. Please help me to welcome them to our community with our promise of prayers and support

IN OUR PARISH

.

THANKS AND GOD BLESS YOU! To all our wonderful parishioners, thank you! I am most grateful for the friendships made during my 14 years in ministry here at Mother of Divine Providence Parish. I have met and worked with so many of you through the Religious Education Program and in RCIA. It has been a delight to watch your children grow in our Faith, and a joy to be part of the experience of so many adults as they journeyed in faith into the Catholic Church. Thanks to all who stopped in last Sunday to join us in celebrating my retirement. It was fun to share stories of our times together. Your well wishes and gifts are most appreciated. A very special thanks goes to Father Cioppi, Msgr. Murray, Deacon Mark, Sr. Veronica, Simone and all the parish, school and PREP Staffs for your goodness to me. And to the parish

family forever at the 8:00 daily Mass … you are the best! Know that everyone at MDP will always have a place in my heart and in my prayers. And I ask your prayers, for although my flower garden has my attention this summer, I desire to be open to whatever God has planned for me in the future. Guaranteed there will be something May God’s awesome Love fill you and your family with the greatest of blessings! Theresa Gilmore

PARISH SERVICES

ST. JOHN CASSEROLE PROGRAM

Our next pick up is on Wednesday July 10. Details may be found in the Out Reach section of our Church

Bulletin. Pans, lids and recipes may be found in the back of church. We continue to be grateful for all who participate in this program to make it such a success. When Julie initiated this in our parish, we were told that he needed to have 10 casseroles for St. John’s to pick them up. We have 3, sometimes 4 times that amount. Thanks to all the cooks out there who help with this program.

MANNA FOOD COLLECTION We will be collecting food for the Food Cupboard in Norristown at Catholic Social Services on July 20 and 21. Please be sure to take a bag next weekend for this purpose. They will be available at the doors of the church. Thank you.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY Please note our new meeting time: First Thursday of every month at 10 am in the Parish Offices beginning again in August. Ministers: We are still making prayer shawls, baby blankets, 12 x 12 granny squares. We are going to add 8 x 8 baby yarn granny squares. As we make granny squares group shawls we are starting the same idea for the baby blankets. Parishioners: We are grateful for all of the donations that have come to us and we are praying for the donators. Please know that your donations are a blessing to us and to those that receive our prayer shawls and baby blankets. Of course, as always, you are welcome to join our meetings.
