• Leggings unaccompanied by a top that extends beyond the fingertips

• Exceptions:

• PE Teachers may wear appropriate athletic attire

• The principal may designate a day to permit employees to wear alternative attire

• Any other exceptions require supervisor approval

shoes, if neat and clean in appearance

• Follow the teacher’s seating chart and lesson plans

• If unable to do so for some reason, document for the teacher

• Remember that you are the adult

• Ask questions if unsure of what to do

DON’Ts• Engage in inappropriate conversations/ interactions

with students

• Focus should be on classroom instruction

• Substitutes are not trained counselors

• Invite visitors• Leave the campus without notifying the office• Assume that a planning period for a teacher means

no assignment for the sub

DON’Ts•Use your personal cell phone while on duty

•Leave students unattended

•Ask for a teacher’s username and password

•Moore County Schools has made a commitment to using technology in every classroom.

•All 6th-12th grade students have laptops issued to them to use both at school and at home.

Technology In MCSGeneral Info

Technology In MCSGeneral Info, cont.

•Students carry their laptops with them at all times and are responsible for their own equipment. They must transport their laptops in their assigned cases.

•There should be no expectation of privacy from any staff or student when using MCS devices and the MCS network.

•All MCS devices are filtered to block inappropriate websites. All activity is logged and can be reported on if an investigation is ordered.

•The school media specialist is the main point of contact for technical issues or questions in each building. The Digital Integration Facilitator is the main contact for instructional uses of technology.

•Monitor Monitor Monitor! Always be sure to actively monitor students’ use of devices by walking around and keeping an eye on their screens.

•Set clear expectations of what students are supposed to be doing on their digital devices and follow through.

• If a student is off-task, consider it the same as any other kind of off-task behavior (daydreaming, doodling, or otherwise not doing what they’re supposed to be doing). Redirect the student as appropriate.

• If a student is using their digital device in severely inappropriate ways (watching movies, browsing inappropriate websites), redirect the student and report the activity to the school principal.

BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS (BBP) Board Policy 3033-4033-8333

•Microorganisms that live in human blood and certain body fluids that can cause HIV, Hepatitis and other serious/deadly diseases

• Infection can occur through breaks in the skin such as cuts

•Practice universal precautions (treating all people as if they are infected)

•Familiarize yourself with information contained in the MCS BBP manual

• If you are exposed, wash the area thoroughly with soap and water immediately. Contact your Principal and school nurse to determine the course of post exposure follow-up. This process is outlined in the BBP manual.

• ALWAYS WEAR GLOVES WHEN YOU MAY BE EXPOSED TO:• Blood or body fluids of any kind.

Remember: If it is wet, sticky and doesn’t belong to you, don’t touch it!!!

CHRONIC ILLNESS•Conditions such as Diabetes, Asthma, Allergies

are on the rise•Know students in your class who have been

diagnosed with any chronic illness•Diabetes: When in doubt give a simple sugar,

such as orange juice•Asthma: Make sure the student carries

an inhaler or other emergency drug with them at all times

CHRONIC ILLNESS

•Allergies: Students should have an epipen or other emergency action medication with them at all times.

•Never send a sick or acutely ill child alone to the office, send another adult or responsible student if child is not in an emergency situation. If in an emergency, stay with the child and call for help.

SUBSTITUTE PAYROLL• Paperless payroll – no printing/mailing of paystubs

• Info available on line at all school campuses

• Tax withholdings – speak with your tax advisor as necessary• Option – withhold an extra $10 federal and $5 state – W-4 and NC-4 tax forms
