Welldon Park Primary School High achievement takes place in the framework of high expectations
Dear Parent/Carer,
This has been a very short term and as ever there has been a lot going on at school. Parent Progress Meetings I would like to thank everyone involved in the Progress meetings with parents. I hope you found the information useful and understood what your child’s next steps are. The Years 1, 2 and Year 6 are preparing for their end of year tests and all the staff involved are working very hard to ensure good outcomes for all the children. Thanks to all the parents who attended the meetings. I met with a number of parents who on the whole were very positive about the school and how we are tackling the challenges we face. If you do have an on going concern about your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school and make an appointment to see me. Collection of children. I would like to remind all parents that they must give written consent to the child’s class teacher at the beginning of the school day if children are to go home with adults other than their parents. Could we also remind parents that once the children have been dismissed, they should remain with their parents and leave the school site. Recently we have noticed a large number of children playing on the outdoor play equipment on the Kingsley site after school . For health and safety reasons we are sure that you will understand we please ask that this does not continue to happen. School Expansion Building work on the Kinglsey site will begin in the Summner term. The project will include creating new classrooms for the Early Years and Year 2, new offices for the admin team and new SEN Learning spaces. All Health and Saftey Risk assessments have been carried out and details of the work schedule will be shared with parents in April. LATE COLLECTION OF PUPIL(S) AT THE END OF SCHOOL DAY
To enable staff to attend training, meetings and carry out essential marking and preparation for lessons at the end of the school day, it is essential that Parents ensure their children are collected on time. With effect from Monday 22nd February 2016, we are imposing a late collection fee for children who are not collected from school on time. In accordance with the School’s Late Collection Policy, the late collection procedure will be as follows:
School finishes for pupils at 3.20pm on the KS2 site (Wyvenhoe) and 3.30pm on the KS1site (Kingsley).
After School Activity Clubs finish at the stated times on respective Club notification letters and pupils should be collected promptly at the end of the activity.
On the first occasion when a child is not collected on time, your child will be sent to the Breakfast and After School Club (BASC), where they will remain.
Upon collection you will be given a letter informing you of the late collection.
For every subsequent time when a child is not collected on time, a fee of £10.00 per child will be charged.
There will also be a charge if parents phone the school to say they are running late but children are still not collected by 3.35 pm/KS2 and 3.45pm/KS1.
If no contact has been made with either parents or the emergency contact person within 30 minute
of the time at which the child was due to be collected the school will contact Social Services.
Parents who wish to use the Breakfast and After School Club (BASC) because of work commitments, need to contact the school office, regarding registering for this service. The BASC runs from 7.45am to the start of the school day and 3.30pm to 6.00pm every school day and is charged for separately.

This March we celebrated as Superheroes!
Anyone can be a Superhero...
The children had the opportunity to dress as their favourite Superhero or book character turned superhero. There were some fantastic characters to spot, well done! Each child was also given a £1.00 World Book Day token to spend on a book of their choice to keep for themselves. Parents please be aware tokens expire on Sunday, 27th of March so get spending! Children also kindly donated £1.00 to their class teacher which will be spent on books for their class to read. Thank you. It’s not too late to donate!A group of our Year 6 children accompanied by our Librarian Mrs McGrath visited the infant site in the afternoon and read stories to the children. A big well done Year 6’s, the infants really enjoyed your visit!
KS2 were very lucky to have visitors, a Hillingdon Librarian who read Roald Dahl, Thank you. Pupils from Harrow
Boys also paid KS2 a visit in the afternoon, reading stories to different classes. They proved to be so popular, perhaps
they will come again! Also, a very big thank you to Mr Thompson for bringing classical poetry to life, the children
really enjoyed the magic!! We also enjoyed Drop and Read. When the bell rang, everyone dropped what they were
doing and read their book!
Well done to everyone for making Welldon Park Primary Schools first World Book Day such fun!
On Tuesday 12th April 2016 the Key Stage 1 children will be introduced to a new lunch-time Family Service from ISS Catering. The
aim of this new lunchtime Family Service is to improve the lunchtime experience for our children. This means that the children will no
longer have to stand in long queues for their food, which the children dont like, it should also be calmer and quieter for them. When
the children come in for their lunch, the tables will already be laid with cutlery, water jugs and cups and snacks such as bread and
chopped vegetables and children can go straight to their table. The food will be brought to the table by the lunchtime supervisors and
served at the table. The table will also include children who bring a packed lunch to school. Please see example of another school
experiencing the family service by ISS catering. A new summer menu starts on week one when the children return.
SAFETY MATTERS
Parents and carers are reminded that the carparks and
entrance for the carparks at the school should not be used as
an area for a car to reverse or complete other maneovers.
These areas are heavily congested by our children and
families at different times of the day when they are entering
and leaving the sites as pedestrians and we all have a
responsibility to ensure we are doing our upmost to avoid an
accident.
SCHOOL UNIFORM
Please remember to lable with your child’s name all school
uniform. In the unlikely event that your child takes home
an item of clothing that does not belong to them, please
return the item to school where the labelling can assist us
to ensure that the clothing is returned to the owner. Thank
you for your cooperation in this matter.
When collecting your child or visiting the school during the
day please use the main entrances at Kingsley and
Wyvenhoe site.
