This book can be considered as a physical expression of my mind. It represents my ideas, my abilities and my de-sign language. It is a collection of many different works, ranging from my University Projects, to my Artistic port-folio before entering the higher education, my Internship projects and my photography. It is ment to show my skills and my passions. It is ME.

Thinking of redeveloping 36 Queen Street , as a way to change the character of the building and the surrounding , together with its structure and its people. A new ‘face’ in an already seen office area. A combination of 3 communities will bring the space alive. A building where to enjoy art and performance but with a new interesting feature all to discover as walking trought the spac-es. People visiting go from being the visitors, the audience, to become performers themselves, moving and creating a unique ambient thanks to the way they interact with the built environment designed to be modified in time by them directly.

A performing architecture for people to experience every day differently.

A project investigating in the power of architecture to control pe-oples movement. Le case del fascio were physical manifestation of power within Italian communities. Meant to be used as PUBLIC SPACES for the general public under fascism. The building though was designed with the intention of eliminate any break in continuity between indoors and outdoors and to show how fascism was open to the public, even if this idea can be discussed , and how propagan-da could be organised in the interior yard.My project recreate this ides of the public having direct power in the building. People would walk into the main part of the building , the yard, and with their own shadow projected to the wall give birth again to the history of the building and their main leader.

FLUX PROJECT - YEAR 2THE WAVE

For this project, we had to experiment with script programming. Meaning creating some basic shapes with the repetition of some command given to the programme. I have used Structure synth , Maya and Blender to be able to create a 3D printable object/model.

A progressive journey from darkness towards the light itself. From the basement imerged in the dark, where the only source of light are the videos of the installation and things are barely visible, until they reach the peak of illumination in the top floor where the main activities of man, the move-ment, is ex- pressed in a place where the colours and light are combined into one.Visitors can access the museum only by elevators, which en-able them to visit either each floor indivitually or have a single ride from floor zero to the terrace experiencing the changing ‘mood’ of light from pure darkness to pure light.

MAJOR PROJECT - YEAR 2AFRICAN CHALLENGE

In a country where development is necessary but not yet achieved and hope is not enough, technology and inventivness are used to introduce a new project which will change the standard of living in a small village in South Africa.A collective project, which will try to involve all the ones willing to help producing a building from the foundations. If constructed by the locals it becomes automatically of their property, it won’t be something pre – constructed and brought to place , but something new they could still feel it’s their land/territory . Trying to give to the community a powerful tool to fight property and ignorance, this new building , for education purposes, will be addressed to promote a new kind of experimentation. An informal solution capable of combining different needs , where people could share ideas and learn. Moreover , through new technology and materials, some advanced solutions will be found to fight many healthy problems in the area .

FURNITURE - YEAR 1A CUBE TO BE ASSEMBLED

With the only use of cardboard we had to design a furniture capable to adapt to human interaction and special needs in the city of Canterbury. After analysig people and actions, as a group , we worked in producing an assembling furniture for homeless people to use as a shelter in the streets.

THE INFRAORDINARYMUSICAL CITY

The definition of infra-ordinary is things we are usually una-ware of and which stay unoticed. Here as a group we have created a device which would allow us to see infra-ordinary elements around the town of Canterbury. The main purpose of the device was to make us percieve the materiality of the buildings without relying on our sight but only on the sound the device will make when the material is touched. Infact at the end of the device the material will be only approached with a tuning fork which will create different types of sound for every type of surface . The exhibition cre-ated after our analysis was in order to make people feel what we felt during the research.

Corrupted society is an animation created with Maya and After Effect. It is a short video representing the human being blinded by the light of media and at the end been absorbed by it. All that is left is a room with no Humanity, only Technology.

Corrupted society 2 is an installation analysing the life of a child, the programmes on TV he/she is used to watch and how they contain subliminal messages. On the other hand is showing too, the life of an Adult and the programmes of him/ her daily life and the same subliminal messages only in a stronger presence.

Combined together they create a strong contrast and a reflective situation for the viewer to understand.

I have always been afraid of the dark.

THIRD YEARRESEARCH THESIS

Page 125: Monograph 2013

125

Would you find yourself more comfortable in total darkness or total bright? Do you believe the absence of one of the two would benefit human living or dam-age it? In my opinion both should find equal impor-tance when it comes to expression , environment, architecture, design and illumination. The effect both shadows and light have in our world, their history and application. The over use of one of the two affecting almost the loss of the second. Ranging from the comparison of different between Western and Eastern culture. To then move to a more literate analysis, finding the definition various characters in the past have given to this two ,

shadow and light , as an important way to represent certain beliefs , as Pliny and Plato and the myth of cave. To then end with the analytical approach of some case studies. analysing buildings which in or-der to be expressed need to use contrast, to mention one : Ando and his Church of Light , below shown.

I have analysed both essence as individuals but also as an inseparable coexistence.

I am Alexia Tiberi Pasqualoni , I am Half Italian and Half Greek. I am a designer, an artist, a traveller, a photog-rapher. But first of all, I am curious. Maybe a little bit too much. But that’ s what makes me learn. I like brows-ing around , meeting people and new places. I capture everything that I experience in my life. My ideas come from the observation of the world. My work comes from people, and it is designed to reveal me.
