Welcome to week 9 at Bourke Public School. We have another exciting week with lots of learning opportunities for all students. Our attendance was again 94% last week, which is above the State average. Our Annual Easter Hat Parade will be held on Thursday 2nd April. Our Wednesday/Thursday transition group will participate and we will also have a toddler’s parade for any children not yet attending school. Everyone is welcome to attend this fabulous event and to see the Easter Bunny. The EYTC Monday/Tuesday group will have a separate Easter Hat parade on Tuesday 31 st March. Our Captains and Vice Captains are in Sydney today at the Young Leaders Conference. I’m sure they will enjoy the city sites, the Leadership conference and also visiting our Sister School, Roseville Public School. Good Luck to Bradley Parnaby who swims at the State Swimming carnival in Sydney this week! Congratulations to our PSSA Cricket team who played Condobolin in Narromine last week. Unfortunately, they lost in a close game but displayed fantastic sportsmanship. Congratulations to our girl’s netball team who played Nyngan last week in the first round of the PSSA. Unfortunately, they lost but developed some more confidence and skills ready for the next game. Kylie Pennell Miss Milgate Best of luck to Bradley Parnaby who will be representing our school at the PSSA State swimming carnival in Sydney on Wednesday in breaststroke. It is a fantastic achievement for Bradley. Please remember that all students need to wear covered shoes while at school. Sandals and thongs are not permitted unless a note has been provided. This ensures that students are able to play during breaks and participate in daily fitness for example. Have a wonderful week! Miss Clark Wow, week 9 already! This week KC are using Kids Pix to publish pictures from the story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. We are also starting to make our Easter Hats for the parade next week. On Wednesday, the students who have had 95% attendance this term will be attending the Kindergarten attendance Pirate Party. Remember to return your home readers along with your homework every Friday! Have a great week.

Miss Heaney Well done to the PSSA Netball team who had a great game against Nyngan on Friday! This week in KH we are beginning to make our Easter Hats for the Parade. In English we are learning the words: play, up and big. In maths we will be focusing on our subtraction skills using counters and our fingers. Remember to return home readers every Friday and exchange for a new and exciting one. Have a fabulous week!

Miss Duiz Hello everyone and welcome to week 9! This week on Thursday afternoon we are singing the song, “Love is in the air” at Infants Assembly. The assembly begins at 2:15pm and finishes approximately 2:50pm. We would love to see you there! In Literacy we are continuing to read everyday and write simple sentences. In the afternoons we are working on our Science unit, discussing things that help keep us alive.

Early Stage 1 AP – Miss Griffiths Our Early Stage 1 Attendance Fun Fair - If your Kindergarten student has missed only 3 days or less of school they will be invited to attend this Fun Fair in the Hall. This should be a great afternoon. Last week we had a special visitor in the school from the Netwaste School Education Program. Sue Clarke presented some very interesting workshops to our stage 2 and 3 students over 2 days. Stage 2 learnt about litter, litter hotspots and recycling litter into useful everyday objects like handbags and jewellery. Stage 3 learnt about and then constructed sun ovens. They even got to see a chocolate cake cooked in one.

Miss Mowbray Week 9, already! This week is a busy one celebrating Harmony Day and Earth Hour. Last week 1B Literacy composed some fantastic procedures that we will be publishing this week. 1B Numeracy will be focusing on 2D shapes, multiplication and division this week. We are very busy creating our wonderful hats for the Easter Hat parade and we can’t wait to show you our designs. It is so good to see everyone at school on time every day, let’s keep up the good attendance. Have a wonderful week!

Miss McKechnie This week we are celebrating Harmony Day. In English we will be making grapeadillas and writing instructions about how to make them. This week we will also be making Easter hats for the Easter hat parade! If you would like to assist students with making Easter hats please let me know. If you have not done so already, please remember to send in a paint shirt. Have an amazing week!

Miss Budd Last week in English we made grapeadillas. It was like a tortilla but you add grapes. We really enjoyed the lesson and wrote wonderful instructions on how to make it. This Wednesday is our attendance prize afternoon. All students who have missed no more than 3 days will be cooking pizzas and adding our herbs which we have been trying to grow with Miss Gordon. 1T the place to be!

Stage 1 AP – Miss Budd This Thursday is the last infants assembly for the term. K/1 D are performing this week. I can’t wait to see who has been working very hard and are receiving bronze level. Remember next week is the Easter hat parade and there is a homemade category. So start getting creative. Have a wonderful week.

Miss Hudson & Miss Bartley Wow! We are in week 9 already. This Friday Stage 2 will be having pretend stalls in our classrooms where we will be selling items such as cupcakes and soft drinks to other students in our class using fake money. We are busy making our signs for our stalls and using all our HSIE knowledge that we have learnt this term on products and services to help us on the day. We are all looking forward to it. Have a great week!

Mrs Douglas In Literacy this week, we will be continuing to read ‘Hey Little Ant’ whilst considering the persuasive elements of the text. In Maths we shall be re-visiting Fractions and Decimals along with Area. 2D will also, hopefully

be making a start on our Easter hats, ready

for the parade next week. Congratulations to Lucus Creighton-Kemp who won 2D’s bluey of the week….

Miss Buckley Welcome to Week 9! On Thursday and Friday 2B will be conducting Personal Learning Plans (PLP) meetings. Miss Dorrington This week we will begin to look at the famous story of Les Miserables. We are looking at a song from the production and analysing how it was written. As we are focusing on descriptive language this should be quite inspiring. In maths we will look at using the four operations and fractions and decimals. In theme we will be discussing some more decision making situations and looking at the processes we use to make good decisions in life. This is further linked to government decisions made in Australia.

Stage 3 AP – Miss Dorrington Welcome to week 9. We hope everyone enjoyed our assembly last week. It was great to see so many awards being received. PLP meeting have begun and it is important that parents and caregivers contact the school and book a time for an interview. My dates are 24th and 31st March and I would love the opportunity to sit down with parents or caregivers, and students to set goals for future achievements.

P&C News: The P&C Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 25th March at 6pm in the BPS meeting room. Everyone is welcome to attend! Keep a look out for our Easter raffle information that will be out soon. We will also be claiming a date for our 2015 Annual Fete.

Premiers Reading Challenge

The PRC is now OPEN and will run til August 28th.

All students are encouraged to participate

and will receive a certificate upon completion

of the challenge. Please hand in any book forms to
