There are many types of modularplatforms: VXI, PXI, PACs, Labview, AXie, USB, GPIB, etc, etc. All theseplatforms have their own bus arrangements and standards. They all offerdifferentadvantagesforagivensetofapplicationsor functions. Theyallofferseveraldifferentplug-inboardsthatcarryoutsingularand/ormultiplefunctions.Several of the plug-in boards require relays to carry out various switchingfunctions. MEDERs relays offer a wide variety of reed relays to meet themultiple usage requirements required in these modular instrumentationsystems.

    ModularRFanalogswitchingboardsarenowhousedwithMEDERsCRFandSRFrelaysthatallowpassageofupto17.5GHzinadistortionfreemanner.Also,highspeeddigitalmodularswitchingmatriceshavebeendevelopedandbeenmadepossiblebyMEDERsultrasmalllineofsurfacemountrelays.Modular general purpose switching matrices have been developed whereseveralhundredreedrelayswereneededtofitinonlya3inchby3inchsquare(7.5x 7.5cm). AgainMEDERsultrasmall reedrelaysmet therequirement.Withsomany relays, thequalityandreliability alongwith functionalitywasacriticalpartoftheselectionprocess.MEDERoffersbothstandardthroughhole and surfacemount invery smallpackages. All relays come with magnetic shielding allowing for very closepackaging. Also,oursurfacemountCRRseriescanswitchandcarryDCto2GHzsignalsforuseinhighfrequencyrequirementsorfastdigitalpulses.OurstandardSILandMSin-linepinlayoutsarebothconsideredstandardsinthe

Allseriescancarryupto1ampandholdoff200Voltsacrossthecontacts.MEDERs reed relays use hermetically sealed reed switches that are furtherpackaged in strong high strength thermoset molding compound, and canthereforebesubjecttovariousenvironmentswithoutanylossofreliability.Thereed relayis anexcellent choicebecause itcanoperate reliably overawidetemperaturerange,andrepresentsaneconomicalwaytocarryoutbillionsofswitchingoperations.
