Create a better user experienceThrough an integrated mobile delivery of account balances, alerts, payments, and approvals, banks can create a better user experience based on instant value and convenience.
Reduce operational costsIn the wake of the worldwide financial crisis, banks are even more focused on cost savings. By enabling customers to move away from assisted channels, such as branches and call centers, to mobile self-service channels, banks can reduce operational costs while at the same time increase customer satisfaction.
Build customer loyalty and satisfactionThe more channel choice banks offer, the more attractive they are to new and existing customers. By enabling customer to manage their finances irrespective of time and location, banks build customer loyalty and increase customer satisfaction.
Open new revenue streamsBy providing access banking services via a mobile devices to large segments of unbanked populations in developing countries or under-banked populations in industrialized countries, banks can open new revenue streams by reaching new markets.

Description
By introducing Sybase mBanking mobile banking services, financial institutions enable their customers the flexibility and convenience of managing their finances over their mobile phones.
Financial institutions can integrate the mBanking platform with existing e-channel banking platforms or with their core banking systems so that they can offer and support innovative mobile commerce applications and services.
Current customer situation
Today, banks’ users are connected and mobile. They expect banking services to be available at their fingertips. Simply providing an on-line Website for channel access is no longer enough. Users expect to consume bank services wherever they are and whenever they want.
Value proposition
Mobile banking makes the customer’s banking experience more convenient. By expanding channel choice into mobile banking, banks can build customer loyalty and satisfaction while at the same time offer a better service and reduce operational costs.
For banks that want to reach and serve particular customer segments better, such as Gen Y users and road warriors or unbanked populations in developing nations, mobile banking is the single, most effective communication channel to reach these customer segments.
Outcome opportunity
n Continuous customer service n Increased cross-sales opportunitiesn Increased revenue opportunities for fees and services

Description
Sybase mPayments supports payment-related services, such as wallet management, with multiple sources of funds, remote and proximity-enabled purchases at any merchant acceptance point, money transfer to known or unknown consumers domestically, bill payments, and loan repayments.
mPayments also enables banks to offer microfinance-related services to under-banked or un-banked consumers.
Current customer situation
Many markets and countries have significant under-banked populations. Cash is still the dominant payment method and access to banking services is limited to urban areas. Use of cash exposes individuals to risk of theft and businesses to fraud.
Value proposition
mPayments supports all popular messaging channels so that financial institutions can appeal to a broad consumer base.
With mPayments, banks have multiple options for creating low-cost payment services, such as money transfers, microfinances, account balance inquiries, bill payments, loan payments, and person-to-person payments.
Banks in developed and emerging markets can rely on mPayments for a complete mobile banking solution that supports all mobile transactions conducted by mobile phone.
Outcome opportunity
n Use of the mobile wallet reduces dependency on cashn Access to increased financial services facilitates business
and money movementn Individual and business liquidity increases as fund access is
increased

Description
Sybase mTopUp enables banks to support mobile top-up activities with prepaid mobile phones. Top up services enable bank customers to make domestic and cross-border money transfers, pay at point-of-sales (POS) terminals, do highly secure online shopping, pay bills, and execute bank services from their mobile phone.
A popular top-up feature, prepaid micro-credit is traditionally dominant in emerging mobile markets, but it has also rapidly gained popularity in highly penetrated mobile markets. To capture customers in these markets and address customer needs with services, banks require a low-cost, rapid-entry solution with a high security level.
Current customer situation
Topping up a phone with stored value requires the user to visit a store. Any current stored value has no ability to be transferred or cashed out.
Value proposition
Mobile top-up is an ideal way to get consumers to start seeing their mobile phones as a payment device.
By enabling their customers to add value to their mobile accounts without having to purchase physical top-up cards, banks can help simplify their customers’ banking and payment habits by giving them instant access from any location to complete a top-up transaction with a single SMS message.
Outcome opportunity
n Stored value in minutes can be added from the devicen Users can now be notified via SMS if the stored value
account reaches a threshold leveln Customers can add value anytime and from wherever they
are, without the need to visit a store
