Design camp 2010

-Process

Day 1We met with Cory, who gave us some insight about how they work in IDEO.the assignment that was given was to bring some pictures from public transportation in our own country. We shared them in the groups and suddenly it beoame clear how different we our cultures are.

We did alot of brainstorming about some of the problems of taking the public transportation. And we created som different topics.

Day 2Professor Michael Braungartgave us a lecture about his work with Cradle tocradle.

We continued barinstorming but we did it in large groups and with professional people fromdifferent companies.

Day 3We split into group of three, and started working..

How might we make the bus trip more intresting?

The people from our group are different in so many ways because we are two danish girls and one syrian girlso the question we had in our minds was..how can we combine the two different cultures together?

In Syria people draw on everything, Its a socail thing that gets people to interact with each other and people consider it as a public art.

In Denmark its not legal to draw outside the "frame"We have all these rules about where its illegal to draw, its more controlling.

Then we created alot of different frames for testing this concept:

How might we get people to draw inside the bus?

The Field Research :We have put frames into these buses.Bus 34 Haderslev and Bus 6 (City buses in Kolding)

We also hung up a few in the school to see if people reacted to it.

People did react to it

But we had a few issues :

-How do we get people to draw inside the bus more?

-Will people draw all over the bus if we give them a pen?

-Will people use it in a bad way and write offensive words all over?

If people should use it more, we need to make it legal to draw on the window.WE got inspired by drawing in the fog, which people already do.And from that we created a interactive touch screen that looks like fog.Its meant to be at the bottom of the window. That way it's still possible to look outside the window, and you can have a little fun whilst on the bus.

Techniically it can be done. After a little research, we discovred alot of different companies that create these see through touch screens. And with time they will probably be better and thinner.

But People dont interact with other people sitting next to them and express themselveswhile drawing together

Its very difficult to get people to interact with each other in the bus, but we can get them to interact with their friends.

So we created this concept where you can draw on the interaction touchable foggy screen andafterwards when you are done ,you can send it to your freinds or share it on facebook.. and by that you can have a good time in your bus trip and get in touch with your friends.

we played around with lots of ways to write the word fog and create our logo to make it not sound pretty but looks good too!..

We took some inspiration from some pictures and created alot of different Fonts

How do we show our concept? - Can we create our own steam ?

It looked great but it was impossible to show our concept in this way on friday .

so we made a film to illustrate the concept..and we also created a facebook page so we can upload the pictures that people did on the window or for them to share it by themselves directly in the bus..
