What is Mississippi currently doing? In-school programs focusing on drop-out
prevention with curriculum that includes work experience, employability skills, etc. These programs focus on graduation from high school and obtaining a job or furthering education by entering college.

Out-of-School programs targeting youth who are high-school drop-outs, offenders, in foster care, pregnant or parenting, homeless, basic skills deficient, etc. These programs help the youth work toward obtaining a GED and also helps prepare them for college or obtaining a job.

Mississippi has also housed several Youth mentorship programs that allow students in-school and out-of-school, while working towards their high school diploma/GED, the opportunity to obtain work skills and a credential such as a CNA licensure.

The Mississippi Department of Education has recently hired a Drop-out prevention coordinator to specifically work on the drop-out problem.
