Children from Our Lady’s School took part in a
walk of witness with the Catholic community of
Manchester in the 5th Annual ‘Marian Procession’,
a walk to give thanks to the Mother of the
Church, Mary most Holy. The walk started at
10.30am from St Edward’s Church, Thurloe
Street, Rusholme.
The procession of over 1,000 people including
Bishop Arnold and Priests walked along Wilmslow
Road, past Saint Kentigern’s Church and then into
Platt Fields Park. When we got into the Park one
of the first things we saw was a set of rosary
beads made from balloons floating above the area
where the service was to be held. During the
short service someone from St Kentigerns Church
crowned Our Lady and then children from each of
the schools read some bidding prayers. Quincy
read the bidding prayer for our school and then
Natalia Tryk had a balloon which she had to let go
with all of the other
children who had balloons. Each child was then
given a handful of rose petals to throw like con-
fetti at Our Lady’s feet.
A big thank you to all the parents and children
that represented our school so well.

Et tu Brute Year 6 have been working very hard preparing for their performance of Julius Caesar at
The Contact Theatre on November 3rd. As part of their English lessons they have been
taking inspiration from the play to write their own adaptation from the point of view of
Brutus. Here are just a couple of pieces of their excellent work.
I think I do deserve to be the leader or Rome, I would be better for Rome, My family has led
Rome for years and I shall continue the tradition, The only way to take his place is to kill him. Tomorrow I will get you Julius Caesar I can’t believe I am going to do this, he is my friend……. Friend or city, friend or ci….. It’s decided, City. It was Cassius idea and he did warn me but all I want is good for the city
Day 2 (the Ides)
I have asked a soothsayer to tell Caesar that the ides of March is today, if I told the sooth-
sayer to tell Caesar that this is the day of his death then he wouldn’t come to the Senate House. There is no going back.
Later……..
I did it! But while I stabbed, a little voice said DON’T!, EVERYBODY WILL FIND OUT
THAT YOU’RE A MURDERER, THEN NOBODY WILL WANT YOU FOR KING” his last words were “Et tu Brute”? Then fall Caesar!” When I heard that my heart started pounding, It’s a horrible feeling, I was sweaty and hot but the thought that I will become King thinking about that….. cheered me up.
Day 3
I couldn't sleep all night thinking about that …...It is such a horrible feeling, I’m not really hun-
gry or thirsty and I don’t feel well, I have never killed anyone and I never thought I would. I feel flat, I don’t know anything, I don’t know what to do, I am beginning to regret this. I feel so guilty, my heart is still pounding and I am very exhausted, I haven’t had any sleep. But, here is a posi-tive side, I bet nobody liked him, he kept on showing off about him winning the battle with Pompeii and he got Antony to pretend to give him a crown so he would have everybody telling him to accept it.

“CRY HAVOC AND LET’S SLIP THE DOGS OF WAR” (Marc Antony (Julius Caesar)
(What shall I do? Should I join the plot to kill Julius? He’s my friend, he trusts me)
“I do fear the people choose Caesar as their King” Rome should always be a
republic. My grandfather dedicated his life to make Rome a republic for the better, the least I can do is to honour my family by keeping it that way. Some-thing needs to be done! Cassius suggested that we kill Caesar today, and today my loyal servant Lucius has found some letters in his quarters that read “Brutus though sleep‘st and see thy self speak, strike redress! “Speak, strike, re-dress—am I entreated to speak and strike? (take action). A bit later my friend Cassius came to my house and told the rest of the conspirators that I’m going to join the plot to kill Caesar tomorrow—no going back now!
ET TU BRUTE falls….
March XX XL IV BC (Ides of March)
So I set out the next day with Caesar and the conspirators with my dagger in
my satchel feeling guilty. I hardly got any sleep last night, I was thinking about killing my noble friend when we got to the Senate house we distracted Caesar then took the dagger, I was the last one….. I plunged the dagger into his heart , Caesar called out “Et tu Brute” then he fell . Then Antony came to Caesar saying “O mighty Caesar ! Dost thy lie so low? Then he turned to us “ I know not gentle men , what go , who else must be let blood”
I assured Mark that we had no plan to kill him , “could I speak at his funeral
Mark asked. I was thinking he might turn the public against him , then I told him to take Caesar’s body and do not blame us in your speech. But speak all the good you can.
