word it modifies.

Dangling Modifiers

• A dangling modifier is a phrase that

modifies a word not clearly stated in

the sentence. Often these can be

unintentionally humorous.

I chased the balloon running

down the street.

I watched the lion with the

binoculars.

I found my pencils looking

through my desk.

Dancing in mud, we watched the

pigs.

Traveling in Florida, their dog

ran away.

Driving north, the trees were

beautiful.
