Costumes

Main Characters – ( Jay and Leon) Jay - In the film opening Jay was wearing an

outfit that consisted of a relatively casual costume. He wore a dark maroon coloured hooded top and dark navy blue trainers. These colours helped to establish the setting and also fitted in very nicely with the scenery. Jay also was wearing beige coloured chinos which helped him to look the middle class character he was supposed to be.

Costumes (2)

Leon – In the film opening Leon is wearing very dark colours to create enigma for the audience and also to fit into the scenery. His costume consists of a navy blue hoodie, jeans and trainers. Again these clothes are very casual which helps to show the audience that the two characters are working class and middle class kids which the target audience may be able to associate with.

Lighting

Natural Lighting (External) – We used the natural lighting at about

7:30pm, on both Saturday and Sunday night, which consisted of street lights. These were our main sources of lighting as without them it would of been pitch black. The weather played its part and worked out perfectly for our film opening.

Lighting (2)

Internal Lighting – We used a Lamp to light up our table

which had our props on top. The lighting insured the key features of this scene and shows clear focus on what we wanted the audience to focus on.

Actors

Jay plays a key role in the film opening as he is one of the main characters. He helps create enigma as he does not say much speech at all. He acts very cautiously throughout the film opening which also helps to create an enigmatic film opening. Leon on the other hand does not seem to act very cautiously at all. His attitude towards people he passes on the street help to show he is a well respected character in the film.

Makeup

There was no make up used in our film opening. Make up was not an essential feature of the film opening and was not necessary for us to use as it would not of brought many advantages to the film opening. However, we could of used make up to create enigma for the audience such as a cut or scar on one of the main characters.

Props

Jay – In the film opening Jay is carrying a bag. This prop helps to create enigma as the audience don’t know what is inside the bag. Other props in the film opening will be when Leon passes the bag of drugs to Jay. At the start of the film opening there is a scene where a pack of cigarettes and a lighter are laid out on a table. This helps the audience establish the genre of the film opening as these props are associated with working class kids and deviant behaviour.

Setting

Our film opening is mainly filmed in the streets of Gainsborough, Blyton. We decided to film our film opening here as it is a location that is practically essential to the genre. It is where stereotypically a place where crime would occur. It is set in an external, natural setting.

However, there is one scene right at the start of the film opening where it is filmed inside internally. This is just to create enigma among the audience as they do not know where the film is set, yet.
