The MCEC’s Student 2 Student and Junior Student 2 Student are powerful student-led programs designed to help change a transitioning student’s focal point from what the student has lost to what the student will gain through the relocation. Believing that transitioning does not have to be diffi-cult, ‘just different’ S2S and JS2S programs are de-signed to help new students in 3 areas: academics,

relationships and finding the way.

The Military Student Transition Consultant (MSTC) Program is an opportunity for the Fort Sam Houston Independent School District to partner with the Military Child Education Coalition as we augment the services of installation-based School Liaison Officers in support of our nation’s military children. The MSTC works with military families to maximize the academic, artistic, athletic, and social skills of mili-tary students. The MSTC is here to assist families with questions and/or issues as they arise in transi-tion, deployment, and relocation. Your MSTC plays a pivotal role to establish collaboration among school systems/local education agencies, public and pri-vate youth services, community groups, and instal-lation-based resources.

Parent to Parent The MCEC Parent to Parent program empowers parents to be their child’s strongest advocate on educational and social issues through MCEC Parent Workshops. More than 100,000 parents have been trained since the program’s beginning in 2006. The MCEC Parent Workshops share practical ideas, proven techniques, and solid resources to support military-connected families.
