Integrated Capabilities
McDermott has the expertise and resources to deliver ully integrated,stand-alone or any combination o subsea eld development services.
These include easibility and concept studies to detailed engineering,
procurement, construction, installation (EPCI) and commissioning –
or all stages o eld development and all types o subsea acilities.
Deep synergies within and across our worldwide skills, tools and
geographic locations add value throughout every project. The result
is a unique eld development solution that is technically sound and
economically practical.
We have a winning combination o exemplary saety standards;
proven engineering and technology; and a global network o
abrication acilities and installation vessels.
As the industry reaches into ever deeper water and hard-to-access
reserves, we continuously push our capabilities and resources. Ongoing
enhancements to our abrication acilities and methods ensure high-
quality results. Additions and upgrades to our feet cater to our clients'
SURF needs across all water depths and installation campaigns.
Fleet expansion, with vessels like NO102 (and LV105,
for expected delivery mid-2012), reinforces our subsea
growth strategy and enhances our ability to meet the
demands of the challenging deepwater environment.

early reservoir fow assurance and system
architecture to a ull suite o eld develop-
ment scenarios. This includes engineering
associated with foating production systems,
deepwater environments and conventional
shallow-water needs.
Our goal is to apply strategies and technologies
that help clients make the most o their
reserves, maximizing recovery and production.
We have executed work in every project

allows us to perorm engineering with
construction and installation challenges in
mind. This leads to realistic cost and schedule
expectations and easier, saer and more cost-
eective construction, transportation and
installation solutions.
We can assist you in preparing a eld

Engineering services varyfrom early reservoir analysis to
turnkey services for an arrayof scenarios – single-well
tiebacks, pipelines andshore approach designs,
to multi-drill center-phased developments.
Project Experience
Pipe-in-pipe FEED for oshore BrazilFEED or a pipe-in-pipe system or a 6,600-oot water depth development oshore
Brazil included all thermal, mechanical, structural and installation design, and analys
o pipe-in-pipe or two thermal values and three installation methods (Reel-Lay, J-La
and towing).
Best-case scenario for Equitoreal GuineaIn a eld development study or two deepwater discoveries oshore Equatorial Guinea,
our engineers evaluated gas rates and volumes to determine the best scenario or the
development base. We also prepared a preliminary capital cost estimate with fexibility t
account or uncertainties and risks associated with each scenario. The study provided insig
into uture appraisal and exploration eorts required to successully develop the elds.
Engineering options for Gulf of MexicoFor a concept screening study to evaluate ull-eld development options or a Gul o
Mexico discovery in 6,100 eet o water, we dened the preliminary eld architecture
arrangement, equipment specication, ineld fowlines, riser engineering and pipeline
export system. We also reviewed design methods or high-pressure riser systems,
established load cases or riser types and installation methods, developed motion
envelopes or strength and atigue, sized and analyzed riser options, and engaged
vendors in assessing new technologies.

Project Management & Procurement
Visualizing results, prioritizing activities
While all projects require a strong and
cohesive project execution plan, it is
especially signicant in subsea. Strategies or
eld developments thousands o eet under
the sea, require a proactive, disciplined and
rigorous approach.
As such, SURF projects benet rom
our comprehensive, integrated project
management and procurement methodology.
Added to the depth o our experience and
knowledge, these strengths ensure we saely
and consistently deliver the most challenging
subsea inrastructure solutions, on schedule
and to agreed-to standards.
Project-centric approachOur project management model is built on the
skills and experience o our people, the
concepts o collaboration and integration, and
the cornerstones o saety and quality.
Consistent and structured, this approach also
allows us to be more creative and responsive in
minimizing and managing risks.
Early in a project, at initiation and planning,
is where the seeds o successul execution are
planted. They fourish during the execution
phase, as we work to deliver what has been
promised. At close-out, our Lessons Learned
system captures guidelines and precautions so
we can use them to improve perormance and
be ready or new challenges.

Eective project management also comes
rom our strength in turnkey services. Fully
integrated EPCI reduces multiparty interace
hazards, controls the procurement process
and enhances schedule certainty.
Purchasing power
Another element o success in project
execution o subsea developments, is seamless
ocus on the procurement process – rom
planning, through purchasing to delivery.
Our global network o oces and
procurement proessionals, manage the entire
process, starting with preparation o detailed
hardware specication, data sheets and
drawings, bid packages or all components,
bid analysis and normalization.
Other activities routinely include supplier
selection; purchase order initiation; review
and approval o procedures; determination o
long-lead procurement activities; oversight
o suppliers, delivery schedules and important

Installation
Flexible eet, comprehensive capabilities
With a growing feet o subsea construction
and pipelay vessels, we are able to meet
the increasing technical challenges o the
subsea market. Emphasizing their fexibility,
these vessels relocate as needed or project
work worldwide.
Our SURF installation includes pipelines,
fowlines, risers and umbilicals via S-Lay, J-Lay,
Flex-Lay and Reel-Lay across a range o water
depths. We also install an array o subseahardware and structures.
Our vessels readily accommodate a variety
o welding systems and we are an industry
leader in the welding o subsea high-grade
carbon steel pipelines.
Two new vessels, North Ocean 102 and Lay
Vessel North Ocean 105 (LV105 expected
delivery mid-2012), with modern subsea
installation hardware and equipment, support
a range o water depths, products and
acilities worldwide.
These include installation o submarine power
cables, control cables and umbilicals, fexible
pipelines, rigid-reeled pipelines and subsea
hardware, as well as deepwater moorings.
NO102's horizontal lay system is being
upgraded with a 330-ton top-tension Flex-
Lay tower, 275-ton AHC crane and 330-ton
hang-o clamp. A 330-ton, 33-oot grip
length, our-track tensioner will also be
installed, capable o lowering loads to a depth
o 10,000 eet.
LV105 will have a 441-ton top-tensioned
pipelay tower unit with an advanced reeled
system or rigid and fexible pipelay in a
maximum o 10,000 oot water depth.
Vessel improvements urther support
SURF installation. DB50 will enhance
its deepwater lowering system, and new
power plant and thrusters will signicantly
increase its station-keeping capability in
deeper water and harsh environments.
Completed and ongoing retting or
modication o Agile, Bold Endurance,
Emerald Sea and Thebaud Sea vessels will
enhance their deepwater construction and
support capabilities.

SCR subsea, the gantry crane installed the export SCR into the Spar receptacle.

ACG Full Field Development - Deep
Water Gunashli Phase 3 was the rst
subsea development in the Caspian Sea.
We carried out project management,
construction and installation engineer-

o three subsea maniolds, six fexible
fowlines totaling 16.7 miles, three con-
trol umbilicals totaling eight miles, 33

subsea production and one water injection
well with associated controls, jumpers,
maniolds, fying leads, umbilicals, risers,
and fowline and water injection lines, as
well as installation o the TLP hull and deck.
A milestone project in a number o ways,
it was the rst subsea system we designed,
