Midterm Grading in zzusis
Basics of Midterm Grading
Midterm grading is done via a midterm grade roster
Midterm grade rosters are static – once created, the roster will have the same students whether students add or drop
Midterm grade rosters were created for every undergraduate level class
Basics of Midterm Grading
Midterm rosters contain every student enrolled in undergraduate level classes, including those who have withdrawn (dropped after 30th day)
Students who have withdrawn will have a W grade already posted in the official grade column on the grade roster
All students enrolled in undergraduate level classes are to be given a midterm grade
For students who are auditing a class, provide the ‘AU’ (which stands for audit), using the drop-down.
Who Can Do Midterm Grading
Midterm grade rosters are available to any instructor assigned to the class with grading access
Grading access is provided using the ROOMS system at the point of assignment

Can an instructor review and/or revise midterm grades? Yes. To review and/or revise a midterm grade, an instructor can

Once the new grade is entered, change status to APPROVED and then click the Save button. The message “You have successfully submitted your midterm grades” displays again.
When will students see midterm grades? Once the midterm grade roster is saved, students can
immediately view their midterm grades in the Student Center
Common Question, cont.
Where do students see midterm grades? Students see their midterm grades in zzusis in their Student Center,
under Academics, and then by choosing Grades, and clicking on the Midterm Grades tab
There is a student on my midterm grade roster who has a “W” grade under “Official Grade.” What does that mean? If a student has withdrawn, you will see the “W” listed. You do not
need to enter a midterm grade for a student who has withdrawn
Common Questions, cont.
What happens if I don’t want to give a student a midterm grade? You are strongly encouraged to give a midterm grade. As a
indication of progress all students benefit from receiving a midterm grade.
What do I do if I’m teaching a class, but don’t have a faculty center? Your academic department can make sure you have access as an
instructor for the class you are teaching, through the instructor table in zzusis and in ROOMS.
