We care and we celebrate all of our players! Character development and life skills are equally as important to us as their success on the court. It matters!

BUSINESS MODEL: RESULTS & QUALITY

We pride ourselves in getting results! This is achieved by placing players in the

right environment to advance their development. What matters to us:

Commitment level – basketball is a tomorrow sport, you have to work TODAY! Accountability – all stakeholders have a vital role to play! Rules – must be followed! Honesty + Integrity + Respect – winning combination! Quality matters!

Placement Day: The What and Why Placement Day is our try-out for the M14 Academy. This is our way to ensure quality as we are able to observe who is not only interested but also committed. This is the fairest way we have found to assess growth and talent from season to season. Players are evaluated based on skill and talent in hopes of being placed in one of our M14 Academy classes. This means that not everyone will be placed. Each Academy Season, spots are earned which means all players must be evaluated before the preceding Academy Season. If your player is not available for their official Placement Day, we do offer make-up evaluations. All players must be evaluated by August 7th to be considered in the first round of invites. If an alternate date is needed, please contact us at [email protected]. M14 Fall Academy Training Program

Three-part commitment. 12-Weeks total beginning the week of August 9th, ending the last week of October.

Difference in classes: At each grade level we divide based on ability.

Progressive Program: Each month building on the next.

IQ/Mentality Training o Competitions (1on1, 3on3) o Helps us address body language, listening, adversity, and “being a star”

Skill progression correlates with each player’s needs

Other perk: Automatic invite into the Winter Academy

Please see a more detailed description on the next page.

CURRICULUM • 1-DAY of BALL HANDLING (creating space, footwork, attack moves, handling

pressure***zigzag drill***) • 1-DAY of SHOOTING (footwork, shots off the dribble, catch & shoot, form shooting,

moving without the ball) • 1-DAY of TRANSLATION (1 v 1, 3 v 3 and 5 v 5) We will not play any outside competition

or in any leagues. Also, in case of a change in Phases where we can no longer do contact, we will change this day to an IQ and intangibles day.

Through the M14 Academy, our goal is to make practice skills transferrable into game play.

WE are continuously growing and learning. We have upgraded our training program to reflect these new concepts.

M14 Fall Basketball Training Program: Middle School

HOW IT WORKS

All players MUST be evaluated before gaining an invitation for this program. Placement day is our official tryout however if a player missed Placement Day they can still set up a private evaluation by emailing [email protected]. All evaluations must be completed by the date shown on the website to be considered in our first round of invitations. Any player interested after the date shown on the website, will be put on the waiting list and contacted at the end of August with a status update. If a waiting listed player is contacted, a private evaluation would have to be set up immediately. If the private evaluation cannot happen within 48-hours, that player would not be considered, and we would continue to contact other players on the waiting list. Not all players are accepted, if you are not accepted, we will inform parents what we do have to offer to help their player’s development. We may have to take a step back and get them ready, so the class is beneficial for them. We do not want to overwhelm players or under-challenge them. For those who are accepted, after the evaluation we will place your player in a different skill level class (grey, blue, or green). Color skill classes offered depend on each grade level so please check the website to be sure the classes that are offered at your grade level and the structure of them. Grade, gender, talent, skill, athleticism is the difference in classes. Parents do not have a ‘say-so’ on where their player is placed. Correct player placement is a key to each of our players’ development and our management staff does a great job ensuring players are where they need to be to see success!

STRUCTURE

Our Fall Academy is a 12-week program starting in August and ending in October. The 4th-8th Grade Fall Academy is a ‘train-only’ option; we do not play any games against outside competition. Our philosophy is to not have teams year-round because at some point players need to focus on their own development. By participating in the Fall Academy, players will train 3-days a week for a total of 36 sessions and the 3 days are mandatory. We also offer a weekly make up session on Fridays in case your player misses one of the sessions during the week. Any absences need to be communicated to M14 Management.

STAFFING

Our class sizes depend on the evaluation of all players. We make sure we have enough M14 certified trainers to stay within our 10:1 player to coach ration. The staff members running classes are put through rigorous training program to make sure they qualified to be in front of our players. They must have passion, energy, and be well versed in our systematic approach to

Page 5: MIDDLE SCHOOL PLACEMENT DAY · 2020-07-28 · • 1-DAY of SHOOTING (footwork, shots off the dribble, catch & shoot, form shooting, moving without the ball) • 1-DAY of TRANSLATION

teaching skill. The M14 Way is what all our trainers must learn before they can interact with our players. This consistency in teaching is another key factor in our players’ results!

CURRICULUM

During the Fall, 1-day we will work on ball handling, 1-day will be dedicated to shooting and 1- day we will compete against each other. Our philosophy is to introduce a move to a player, show them ‘how’ to do the move and ‘why’ they are doing the move. After that we want that player to get as many repetitions doing that move at the correct pace. This is a great way to ensure players are well rounded with their skills. Each week we build on our moves and concepts, so attendance is expected. Players in this program do need to purchase our Player Package which is our practice jersey. The practice jersey is not optional. All players must have one and wear it to every training session.

IT WORKS!

After 12 weeks of training expect to see RESULTS! 97% of all players who train in our Academy make the grade level team. That percentage increases as the length of time increases that a player has trained with us. The Academy Program stresses skill but also life lessons that will help your player on and off the court. We believe in discipline, structure and creating a positive environment that appropriately challenges players. It works!

M14HOOPS COVID-19 GUIDELINES

At M14Hoops health and safety is our number 1 priority. We continuously monitor the pandemic’s progress and follow all CDC, WHO, and State guidelines for Youth Sports. We also will implement the following restrictions in addition:

• For entry and exit we will use the garage doors located at the south side of Finch Creek. If a player is late or we are experiencing inclement weather, we will use the front door. Specific entry doors will be emailed out Saturday, August 8th and will not change for the remainder of the Fall.

• As of right now, while the limit for large gatherings is 250, we will only allow players in the building. The parking lot is available for parents to wait while their player’s session is in progress.

• We will have 10 minutes between each session to allow staff to sanitize the bleachers. This will aid in the traffic flow as well.

• We will have reduced bathroom occupancy to 3 players at one time.

PLAYER GUIDELINES

• Facemasks should be worn when entering and exiting the building. Players will not have to train with facemasks on.

• Player’s temperatures will be taken with a non-contact thermometer. • Players must sanitize their hands before each session. • Players must wipe their basketballs down before the session begins. • We ask all players to bring their own water to limit use of public water fountains.

We also ask for all families to use the commonsense approach, if your player is showing any

symptoms of sickness, please do not bring them to the training session.
