Curriculum
At Mictec, we offer a unique blend of Nigerian and British educational curricula.
This teaching system, which we have perfected over the past two decades, has given us a mix of innovative and traditional teaching techniques that offer the best possible education.
I. Early learning (Nursery)
Pupils between the ages of 18 months to 4 years are cared for with the creative implementation of our curriculum which helps to lay a solid foundation for continuous training. They are also exposed to adult key roles to enable them develop awareness of their immediate and international environment.
We provide a calm and positive environment for the children to explore and gain positive understanding of the world.
Mictec also provides a homely atmosphere where every child matters and his/her potentials/skills are harnessed, while encouraging regular communication with parents. How we handle different learning paces
The learners are divided into groups selectively to accommodate the fast learners and the slow learners. When it's time for each group to make presentation, we ensure the task is handled by the slow learners as it motivates them to put in more time than others.
After each presentation, the presenter knows he or she has to provide answer to any question, based on which his/her group will be graded. So, the entire members of the group study and prepare as a whole.
Our curriculum takes care of the six broad areas of child development:
• Personal/physical development
• Social and emotional development
• Communication, language and literacy development
• Mathematical development
• Knowledge and understanding of the world
• Creative development
It is our secret recipe that nurtures generational legacy of tasteful education

Our classrooms are most conducive to learning and designed to be futuristic. Children spend a significant part of their school time in the classroom and this happens at a period in their lives when their imaginations are most active.
We recognise therefore how important it is to have classrooms that inspire and nurture the imaginations of our students.
CLASSROOMS
Ÿ Two teachers per classroom
Ÿ M a x i m u m o f 2 0 s t u d e n t s p e r classroom
Ÿ Interactive board/E-learning facilities in each of the classes

Ÿ A record showing performance is marked on a fortnightly basis and is always available for parents to see.

Our library is an indispensable tool for achieving our mission. It is one of the most important departments.
Each class has its library period to be spent in the school library. This foundation helps our students to cultivate personal study culture.
Through constant upgrading of our school libraries, our students have access to indispensable learning support services. Our libraries are fully stocked with wide range of books that tickle the fantasy of our students and open their minds to imbibing the culture of knowledge. The libraries are spacious with sitting arrangement devoid of distraction.

The merger of information and communication technologies, now simply called ICT, has enabled vast opportunities that are only a click away.
At Mictec, we do not just boast of having a fully functional ICT facilities, all our instructional processes are driven by ICT. We know this is the future of education and our students are not waiting for that future.SIDEBAR: A day in the life of a boarding student
All computers in the school have internet access. We are very conscious of the need to monitor students' access to the internet. We prevent access to age-inappropriate sites and/or using e-mail inappropriately through a range of filtering and blocking softwares.
ICT
Boarding facilities help to improve students' focus and sense of pursuit because the whole environment is programmed and regulated to accentuate the desired outcome.
Mictec offers standard boarding facilities. Within the hostel, students have their separate places of residence, and their welfare is looked after by Housemates and Housemistresses in conjunction with a resident matron.
Our boarding system presents the perfect opportunity for staff to be on hand to help students with any problem or concern, whether pastoral or academic.

Science Laboratories
Visual Arts Studio
Mictec boasts of modern science laboratories that meet all standards of external examiner.
Our students enjoy the practical classes more because of the freedom we give them to be intuitive.
Our fine arts studio is one of the busiest centres in our school. This is deliberately designed to fuel and nurture the creative potentials of our students, which is biologically at its bursting growth when they are with us.
We can say that fine arts is just about moulding budding artists, it is a tool we use to nurture and develop the creative potentials of our student in a way that syncs with their biological clock.
We do not just say we are competent, we demonstrate it. There was a year we had cultural day and all the clothing materials used were produced by our students.
A visit to our visual arts studio will reveal a glimpse of the creative transformations that every student goes through at Mictec.
Health servicesIn line with WHO's definition that health is not the absence of sickness, we therefore take a proactive approach to maintaining the health of our status though routine lectures, strict hygiene practices etc. However, once in a while when they fall ill, our sick bay provides a restful mind for parents.

Global partnership: the Mictec advantage
We owe it to every student of Mictec International School to ensure that they are locally responsible and globally capable by
the end of their academic programme with us.
This is why we have developed closely knit social, educational, sporting and cultural links with different parts of the world.
For many years, Mictec has had particularly strong links with the Oklahoma University where our students go on educational tours (excursion).
In recent years, ground breaking partnership with Oklahoma University has offered educational assistance and exchange programmes for our students.
Their interest in world affairs is further nurtured through the complementary studies programme, the lecture series and a range of sporting and cultural tours.
