• Miami Springs Middle School's Magnet Program is designed to increase students' ability to perform at high academic levels. Students will learn how to locate, comprehend, interpret, evaluate, manage, and apply information through a variety of explorations and media.
• Students will work independently, with partners, and in small groups to engage in hands-on laboratory activities to explore scientific concepts.
• Participants will engage in real time videoconferencing with experts from a range of science-rich institutions and museums.
Programs:
• Exploring Technology - 6th Grade
• Exploration of Aerospace Technology - 7th Grade
• Exploration of Power and Energy Technology - 8th Grade
GET SET Magnet Program Science Engineering Technology
Students participate in the classroom, clubs and after-school activities that focus on science,
engineering, technology and problem solving that are designed to expose our students to a variety of science related careers.
GET SET Magnet Program Science Engineering Technology
Exploration Technology
6TH Grade Students The purpose of this course is to introduce 6th grade students to the levels of
work performed in both todays and our future technological world. Laboratory experiences revolving around electronics, computers and technology systems of communications, production, construction and
transportation will allow students to explore the requisites and special skills for the careers in our technological world.
GET SET Magnet Program Science Engineering Technology
Exploration Aerospace Technology
7TH Grade Students The purpose of this course is to introduce 7th grade students to Aerospace
Technology. In this course, students will explore the principles of flight through the designing and building of model aircraft, rockets, and the use of flight
simulator software. Students will study the history of flight, types of aircraft, and aircraft design. Problem solving and critical thinking skills will be used to
investigate real-word problems in aviation.
GET SET Magnet Program Science Engineering Technology
Exploration of Power and Energy Technology
8TH Grade Students The purpose of this course is to give students an opportunity to explore the area
of power and energy technology and its associated careers. Students will be given the opportunity to solve technological problems using a variety of tools,
materials, processes and systems while gaining and understanding of the effects of power and energy technology on our everyday lives.

This Year Miami Springs Middle hosted it’s annual Science Night. A night dedicated to Science, Engineering and Technology. Students had the opportunity to show their
science projects and creations.
Science Night
Miami Spring Middle School is focusing a lot of attention on the important subjects of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The school is a Get S.E.T.
magnet school that emphasizes science, engineering and technology. MSMS also boasts the iPrep Math Academy with a state-of-the-art mathematics lab.
School administrators, counselors and teachers have a great working relationship between the school, the home and the community, and it shows in a variety of ways. Milam’s Market recently donated 660 eggs for the hands-on learning that went on
during the egg drop contest. That’s 55 dozen eggs destined for demise and destruction all in the name of learning.
