MAGTECH USA offers industrial customers our uniquely designed and manufactured

linear and rotary pneumatic actuators for their precise processing control to the devices such as dampers and various valves. Tremendous applications have been identified in utility power plants, petroleum and petrochemical plants, steel mills, and other industries requiring fluid and air controls in the processes.

Modern processing control system would be precisely fine-tuned if all the involved system elements are capable of being run continuously and precisely. Based on the measuring data from several of sensors, the DCS calculates the new commands to be sent to the actuation elements. It is the actuator to finally achieve the new positioning actuation. Any delay and/or low positioning accuracy would diminish the notion of high efficiency processing control.

Modern processing control system has three key elements, including command

element(DCS), measuring element(sensors and transmitters), and execution element(actuators). Regardless how different the processes are, it is the actuator to execute the command from the command element, which generates the command based on the incoming parameter data from the measuring elements. Thus it is critical to have the actuators with immediate responsiveness, high positioning accuracy and repeatability, rich monitoring and diagnostics to external parameters and internal operation.

decision-making process under the increasingly higher environmental awareness from public and government from which new legislations and laws are enforced.

Quick Replacement – Precise “Drop-In” Replacement Customers are often eager to adopt newly-design actuators to improve process controls yet retrofitting the old actuators always involve various aspects have to be thoroughly considered. MAGTECH takes retrofit process into a straightforward easy task and leave all the considerations to MAGTECH staff. When the customer receives the new MAGTECH actuator, it is typical a “drop-in” replacement and ready to be in service after completing wiring it up while usually maintain the same original mounting dimensions.

MGT LINEAR CYLINDER DESIGN

1. Removable Retainer Gland – The retainer gland and rush bushing are externally

removable. On most models, total disassembly of the cylinder is not necessary. Self-locking capscrews hold the retainer gland in place. Heavy-duty scraper could be used to prevent extra fine protection aiming protection from dust and other corrosive particles.

2. Rod Bushing and Seals – The rod bushing is accurately machined from solid bearing bronze. It is piloted and retained in the end cap to provide positive rod support, and designed for maximum bearing area. Buna seals are standard. Seals with other materials for other special requirements such as high-temperature are available as optional

3. Ports – Large ports are provided. They could be rotated to a suitable position in relation to each other and the mounting

4. Piston Rod – The piston rod is of high strength steel. It is hardened and plated to resist scoring and corrosion to assure maximum seal life. Optional rod boot could be selected for extra protection

5. Piston – A lightweight, low inertia, non-corrosive piston is precisely machined from high-strength aluminum alloy. The piston is pilot fitted and threaded to the rod



6. Cylinder Barrel – For small cylinders, we typically use high strength aluminum alloy to minimize the structural weight. For larger bore cylinders, typically above 8” bore size, we preferably use advanced reinforced fiber-glass tube rather than steel.

Advanced Reinforced Fiber-Glass Barrel

This fiber reinforced thermoset epoxy matrix material has an inner surface of evenly dispersed low friction additives. It makes the light weight, high strength, corrosion resistant composite barrel material which securely replaces carbon steel, honed and chromed steel, stainless steel, and other alloy cylinder barrels, especially the larger ones.

Significant Weight Reduction Reduce material handling and shipping costs. Approximately 1/4 the weight of steel barrel itself and significantly weight reduce for whole actuator.

Superior Corrosion Resistance Trouble-free performance in chemical, high moisture and other adverse environments including salt and chlorinated water which results in significant reduction in life cycle costs.

Reduced Maintenance Costs No piston lock-up. This Reinforced Fiber-glass barrel ensures a smooth self-lubricating inside surface that prevents pistons from sticking, even after they have remained idle for months. Ongoing tests conducted on non-lubricated cylinders resulted in cycles of greater than a million strokes without requiring seal replacement.

Eliminate Honing Costs A surface smoother than honed steel. A 5-15 Ra micro-inch surface finish performs just like a honed surface.

Excellent Thermal Stability With a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, our reinforced fiber-glass barrel operates efficiently up to 275 degrees F and customers have reported success in using our product at temperatures below -300 degrees F.

Non-Magnetic Material Permits magnetic sensors to control piston movement directly through the wall thickness.



7. End Caps – The end caps and mountings are of high quality steel, precisely machined to accurate mounting

8. Tie Rods – The tie rods are constructed from high quality carbon steel or other optional metals. The thread are accurately machined for rigid engagement of the nuts

9. Cushions – The cushions are machined to close tolerance to provide positive, smooth deceleration at the end of stroke

10. Cushion Needle Adjustment and Ball Check – The cushion adjustment valve and cushion-check ball retainer screw are specially-designed to provide full cushion adjustment and sealed with a Teflon ring to prevent leakage

MGT LINEAR ACTUTOR FEEDBACK MECHANISM

1. Ball-Bearing Guided Feedback – Micro ball-bearing feedback provide virtually no friction to the rail groove and thus guarantees immediate response to the new command signal

2. Preloaded Mechanism – Properly preloaded feedback mechanism accurately balance the actuator structure to prevent deflection under the load. It is often to see the damage of the feedback device due to the deflection caused by the mechanism without fine-tuned preload.

MGT Linear Actuator Model Selection MGT linear actuator model selection is a straightforward easy process. Using the following flow chart, customer could configure the MGT Linear actuator model string satisfying his required specifications. As always, we highly recommend the customer to confirm the model selection with MAGTECH sales to make sure correctness of the model selection.

Example: Require 1475N thrust at 5.5Mpa air pressure, modulation service with 4-20mAcommand and feedback Require internal control, hold the last position when losing air/power/command. 65°C ambient temperature, single clevis connections, IP67 enclosure. MGT Rotary Series Actuator Highlights “Scotch Yoke” Mechanism

Adopting “scotch” yoke mechanism brings MGT rotary actuators attractively compact comparing to typical rack-and-pinion type actuators. The MGT rotary actuators are suitable for quarter-turn rotary applications.

A typical MGT rotary torque curve is close to torque curves of the quarter-turn valves, including ball valves and butterfly valves. MGT rotary actuators could also be widely used for various air dampers. After opening the damper, the dynamic torque is typically lower.

MGT rotary actuators take advantages of “scotch yoke” mechanism to simulate the actual torque distribution whenever possible. In this way often we could use the most suitable size of the actuators for the applications. Double-Acting & Spring Return(FAILSAFE）
