MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF STUDIES A year has passed by and I’m back again to share my views and for that I appreciate the opportunity given. Hello every one! First and foremost, a big “thank you” to the teachers who tirelessly guided, coached and motivated the students who then worked hard to attain good results in PMR, SPM and IGCSE for the year 2010. Their improved achievements not only brought cheer to themselves but their parents and staff as well. Their success was due to the close cooperation, understanding and commitment among students, parents and teachers. It is therefore my earnest hope that all students especially those sitting for the public examinations this year will learn from these ex-Highlanders that only when you work hard and cooperate with everyone, success will be yours. Remember, “There are no gains without pains”. I am sure you are aware that each and every one of you is unique with your own experiences, backgrounds, beliefs, ideas and potential. So, go ahead Explore, Enrich and Excel. Uphold the motto of your school. Here in a safe and familiar environment of a home away from home, you are encouraged and motivated to search and look for your strengths. In your quest to explore, make your life here enriching and meaningful by engaging in a variety of activities that have been lined up. Make it so beautiful that you will always remember and cherish your school life here. In the process of enriching your life, strive for excellence. Push yourself to bring out only the best in you which is easily attainable with the warm and loving care and attention showered. To become successful Highlanders and future leaders, ample opportunities are here to help you develop your potential which is the vision of our school, “We nurture individuals to realize their potential”. With guidance and motivation, you tap into your inner talents and creativity. Everyone’s achievement, no matter how small is appreciated and you are encouraged to grow your potential. With much confidence and patience, there is no doubt you will scale even greater heights of success in this caring and family atmosphere. No effort is spared to create and foster a stimulating environment to accomplish the mission of your school which is to have a balanced, all-round education in a culture of quality, nurturance and teamwork. As boarders, you learn to manage your own time, take care of your personal needs and make independent decisions. Hence, you grow in maturity. Not only academic excellence is emphasized, ethical and moral values are inculcated. It is here that networking begins and lasting friendships are formed based on respect, loyalty, tolerance and courtesy. You learn to live and work together harmoniously. Thinking, planning, decisions and actions are better when done as a team. Keep reminding yourself- be the best among the best whatever you are. Give your maximum effort and contribute positively to the progress of this school and bring with it fame and glory. Yes, Highlanders Boleh!. Wishing you happiness and good health always. MESSAGE FROM

THE DIRECTOR OF STUDIES

A year has passed by and I’m back again to share my

views and for that I appreciate the opportunity

given. Hello every one!

First and foremost, a big “thank you” to the teachers who

tirelessly guided, coached and motivated the students

who then worked hard to attain good results in PMR,

SPM and IGCSE for the year 2010. Their improved

achievements not only brought cheer to themselves but

their parents and staff as well. Their success was due to

the close cooperation, understanding and commitment

among students, parents and teachers. It is therefore my

earnest hope that all students especially those sitting for

the public examinations this year will learn from these

ex-Highlanders that only when you work hard and

cooperate with everyone, success will be yours.

Remember, “There are no gains without pains”.

I am sure you are aware that each and every one of you is

unique with your own experiences, backgrounds, beliefs,

ideas and potential. So, go ahead Explore, Enrich and

Excel. Uphold the motto of your school. Here in a safe

and familiar environment of a home away from home,

you are encouraged and motivated to search and look for

your strengths. In your quest to explore, make your life

here enriching and meaningful by engaging in a variety

of activities that have been lined up. Make it so beautiful

that you will always remember and cherish your school

life here. In the process of enriching your life, strive for

excellence. Push yourself to bring out only the best in

you which is easily attainable with the warm and loving

care and attention showered.

To become successful Highlanders and future leaders,

ample opportunities are here to help you develop your

potential which is the vision of our school, “We nurture

individuals to realize their potential”. With guidance

and motivation, you tap into your inner talents and

creativity. Everyone’s achievement, no matter how

small is appreciated and you are encouraged to grow your

potential. With much confidence and patience, there is no

doubt you will scale even greater heights of success in this

caring and family atmosphere.

No effort is spared to create and foster a stimulating

environment to accomplish the mission of your school

which is to have a balanced, all-round education in a

culture of quality, nurturance and teamwork. As

boarders, you learn to manage your own time, take care of

your personal needs and make independent decisions.

Hence, you grow in maturity. Not only academic

excellence is emphasized, ethical and moral values are

inculcated. It is here that networking begins and lasting

friendships are formed based on respect, loyalty, tolerance

and courtesy. You learn to live and work together

harmoniously. Thinking, planning, decisions and actions

are better when done as a team. Keep reminding yourself-

of this school and bring with it fame and glory.

Being the third important event in line after the cross country

and swimming carnival, the 11th

School Sport comes into

place. It is divided into the standard sports, the final field and

track event.

The standard sport event was successfully held on the 28th

March. All students had to take part so as to score points for

their respective house. The final for the field events namely

5Om, 1OOm, long jump, high jump and shot putt were held

on the 29th

March.

The finals track events for the school sport took place on the

2nd

of April. Briefing and motivation took place before the

warming up session in the morning after the Patriotic

Assembly. The meet started at 8.3O am with the march pass

by all the houses. The guest of honour, Mr. Tee Kok Bin, the

first principal and a member of the Board of Governors of

our school, declared the meet open after the speech by our

principal, Mr. Kok Tuck Khow.

A spectacular performance by our school taekwando team

won the applause of all those present. It was then followed

by the aerobic competition by the Blue, Green and Red

house.

The highlight of our sports came into live with the

commencement of the 5Om, 1OOm and 2OOm sprints

events respectively. Two of the most interesting events were

the 5Om International Dash event taken part by the boys as

well as the teachers and staff who are local and also from

abroad.

The last event of the day was the Tug of War officiated by

Mr. Tee Kok Bin between the Blue and Green house.

Everyone at the venue cheered and supported their team.

At the end of the day, the overall champion went to the Red

house followed by Green house and Blue house. The meet

ended at 1.OO pm as scheduled after the closing and prize

giving ceremony. Food and drinks were served at the dining

hall to bring and already wonderful day to a memorable

conclusion.
