Menu of Support For Profession

Services and Targeted Courses

These courses are offered at points across the year depending on demand. Please call the centre if

you would like to refer a family to any of the courses below:

Parenting

We run Family Caring Trust 6 week and Webster Stratton Parenting 12 week courses across the

year. Creche available.

Domestic Abuse Support: Freedom, Helping Hands and Expect Respect

Domestic Abuse support is offered through the 10 week course Freedom that runs across the

year. At other times we also run two 4 week courses, Helping Hands; understanding the impact on

your child, and Expect Respect; exploring what a healthy relationship is. Creche available.

1:1 Outreach Support

Our Family Practitioners provide 1:1 support to families in the home. Support can be offered for

social isolation, health and wellbeing, financial and housing support, parenting, play and child

development, domestic abuse support. Referral is required with parental consent.

Speech and Language Support

Early Words Together:

6 week course for families with children 2 – 3 yrs. Play ideas and information to help develop

children’s speech and language. Particularly useful for two year old funded children or children

identified as needing help with speech development.

Bookstart Bookcorner: Bookcorner course with Bookstart pack exploring reading and playing with

your child. For families of children 18 months – 3 years. Ideally suited to two year old funded children.

Support for New Mums

Baby Massage: 5 week baby massage course. Priority given to mums identified as needing support

with emotional wellbeing, low confidence, anxiety, pnd, social isolation or needing improved

support network.

Mum2Mum: Weekly breastfeeding support group with peer supporters for parents to meet other

breastfeeding mums and get advice and support. The centre also hire out breast pumps.

The Health Visitors run their Baby Weigh In Clinic at the Windmill Hill CC every Wednesday from

9.30 – 12pm, and at Ludgershall Castle Practice every Monday from 1 – 2.30pm.

Encouraging Healthy Lifestyles

HEY: Nutrition and Cooking 7 week course for targeted families in which parents will gain an

accredited qualification. Creche available.

Anybody Can Cook: A 6 week cooking course for parents and their children together. Ideas and

recipes for healthy meals to make as a family.

Fun with Food 5 week course – cooking fun food with children.

First Aid: We run accredited First Aid courses and shorter ‘Recognising the Sick Child’ courses at

different points in the year.

We also have a Healthy Lifestyle Trainer who visits the Centre on the first Wednesday of every

month. FREE 1:1 appointments available. Advice and guidance on dieting, stopping smoking,

exercise, healthy eating and much more.

Education, Training and Employment

Explore Your Options, 1:1 Careers Advice groups are available, families can ring the centre to

book on.

Money Advice: 1:1 appointment dates at points in the year, families can ring centre to book on.

Caring for Children Course: a free 10 week accredited child development course for parents

looking to work in childcare and gain qualifications. (must be workless and receive benefits –child

benefit counts. to qualify.) There are also further courses including Safeguarding and Autism

Awareness.

Adult Learning: Courses such as Numeracy and Literacy, ICT skills, and Keeping Up With the Kids

run at points in the year, families can contact the centre to be put on a waiting list.

ESOL: We run English as an Additional Language courses at different levels at points across the

year. Contact the centre for more information.

Young Parents Group: For parents aged 21 and under and their children. Covers parenting, child

development, speech and language and staying safe.

Stay and Play / Baby Groups: These run in six week blocks at points across the year depending on

demand and need.

Holiday Activities We run at least one event in each school holiday as well as a range across the area

in the summer holidays. We also run special Saturday events across the year. Open to all families with

0-5s.
