The Law of Empowerment – Romans 5:12-21

God Changes Us from the Inside Out. He never demands conduct that Hedoesn’t first empower His followers to achieve.

1. He liberates He frees us from the chains, stains, and pains of the past

2. He elevates He embraces us and lifts us up to reign with Him

3. He educates He gives us wise counsel and future direction

4. He compensates He fills areas where we are weak or lack competence

5. He motivates He is our source of vision, hope, and purpose

6. He regenerates He transforms us to live on a higher level by His supernatural resources

7. He activates He commissions us to obey and move forward in His cause.

How and When Do You Receive Power?

Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after the Holy Spirit is come unto you; and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Stay Connected to the Omnipotent Source of Power

John 15:5-8 “I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abideth not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”

Do You Believe God?

John 14:12-14 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do, because I go unto my Father. And whatever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.”

Utilize Your Power from on High

Matthew 9:8 “But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled, and glorified God, who had given such power unto men.”

Acts 6:8 “And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people”

1 Thess 5:19 “Quench not the Spirit”

Think Right About Yourself

Luke 14:11 “For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”

Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.”

James 4:10 “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.”

Romans 8:37 “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

Revelation 21:7 “He that overcometh shall inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.”

God-Inspired Words of Power

Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ, who strengtheneth me.”

2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.”

ALIGN your THINKING with the WORD OF GOD and MOVE on to GREATNESS!

“Show Thyself a Man” 1 Kings 2:1-4

WE MUST consistently demonstrate the courage, commitment, and love toward our sons to encourage them to “SHOW THYSELF A MAN” as David did for his son Solomon.

EVERYDAY, WE MUST COMPEL OUR SONS TO: Pray Study the Word of God Trust in the Lord Maintain a Spirit of Humility Show no Fear Excel Academically and Professionally Treat Women with Respect Bring Honor to the Family Forsake Sin and Live Righteously Pull Up Their Pants!!!

“Show Thyself a Man” 1 Kings 2:1-4

Psalm 119:9 “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word.”

The man who aspires to GREATNESS should walk as The Lord Jesus Christ walked. He should walk in the light, walk in truth, walk in love, walk worthy of his vocation, walk in faith, walk in the spirit, and walk in the newness of life.

God created man for His purpose and for His glory.

“Show Thyself a Man” 1 Kings 2:1-4

In order to “Show Thyself a Man” in the true context, you have to bewilling to keep God’s commandments.

Eccl 12:13 “Let us consider the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”

As God said to Abraham, He is also saying to you as written in Genesis 17:1 “I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.”

COMMIT TO BECOMING GOD’S MAN, WALK IN THE FULLNESS OF YOURDESTINY, AND REALIZE GREATNESS IN ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE.

GOD BLESS YOU.

Releasing THE LEADER Within

Genesis 1:26-31 speaks to our God given leadership potential.

Being made in God’s image means we were created to lead (verse 26).

God commanded both male and female to have dominion (verse 27).

Releasing THE LEADER Within

We are to rule over the earth, but not necessarily over each other (verse 28).

All of us are to serve one another in the areas of our gifting and purpose (verses 29-30).

Each person’s leadership is best exercised in his or her area of giftedness (verse 32).

Visionary Leadership

Three major aspects of visionary leadership– Constructing a vision, creating an ideal image of the

organization and its culture– Defining an organizational philosophy that succinctly

states the vision and developing programs and policies that put the philosophy into practice within the organization’s unique context and culture

– The leader’s own practices, the specific actions in which leaders engage on a one-to-one basis in order to create and support their vision

17

Visionary Leadership

Leaders must understand and express by their behavior the sequence of actions to be taken to make a vision real

Leaders must be able to explain their vision to others, making the nature of the vision clear in terms of its required action steps and objectives

Leaders must be able to extend the vision, applying the sequence of activities to a variety of situations so that the vision can be implemented in several ways and places

18

Visionary Leadership

Leaders must be able to expand the vision, applying it not just in one limited way, and even in a variety of similar ways, but in many different ways and in a broad range of circumstances

The true visionary leader will also have the conceptual skill needed to look at the overall plan and effects of team member involvement

The person who can think through a vision over a span of time of 10 to 20 years is the rare, visionary leader

19

Visionary Leadership

Visionary leaders must also possess the personal conviction that what they do can make a difference

Visionary leaders must be able to use power and influence in positive ways, so that team members are “empowered” to carry out the leaders’ vision

Building High-Performance Teams

26Men's Empowerment Network

http://www.men-intl.com

What exactly is a High-Performance Team?– A team that outperforms all other like teams by an

order of magnitude and also outperforms all reasonable expectations given its composition.

– It is identifiable by its results and by the individual members’ commitment to one another, a commitment that transcends the team situation.

Building High-Performance Teams

27Men's Empowerment Network

http://www.men-intl.com

Why is it difficult to create high-performance teams on purpose?– The intense level of personal commitment to the

team’s goals and working approach as well as to others’ personal success and growth evident among people on high-performance teams goes beyond something that can be mandated or self-consciously created.

Building High-Performance Teams

28Men's Empowerment Network

http://www.men-intl.com

Can members become equally committed if they do not spend equal amounts of time?– Yes, so long as all members do real work beyond

attending “discuss, decide, and delegate” meetings, the relative amount of time spent is less critical.

Building High-Performance Teams

29Men's Empowerment Network

http://www.men-intl.com

What is mutual accountability and how does it differ from individual accountability?– Team performance requires both individual

accountability and mutual accountability. – The members hold themselves accountable for

their individual contributions to the team, their collective contributions to the team, and the team’s overall result.

Building High-Performance Teams

30Men's Empowerment Network

http://www.men-intl.com

What is the most important attribute of effective team leaders?– Attitude, including strong beliefs in the importance

of the team’s purpose, the value of each person’s contribution, that team performance really does depend on the team being in control (versus the leader alone), the ability to strike the right balance between action and patience while the team moves up the performance curve, and the willingness to do real work along with everyone else.

Leadership Lessons of Jesus Christ

31Men's Empowerment Network

Commitment– When Jesus Christ asked “Can you drink the cup I am

drinking?” He was in essence inviting James and John to come and die with him. This has huge implications for leadership.

– First, you’ve got to be involved in something worth a total commitment.

– Second, the leader must have made a total commitment– Third, the team members must be challenged to give all

they have in the hopes that by united effort, some goal may be accomplished together that could not be accomplished individually.

Leadership Lessons of Jesus Christ

http://www.men-intl.com

Servant / Leader– The concept of servant /leader is difficult for many

people to grasp today, in part because contemporary success and leadership literature espouses just the opposite and glorifies a different type of leader.

– To think that a leader can succeed by putting his or her team members first, both individually and as a group, seems unworkable and a formula for failure according to contemporary thinking.

– In fact and in truth, this leadership lesson of Jesus Christ is the single most important formula for success ever enunciated.

Leadership Lessons of Jesus Christ

33Men's Empowerment Network

http://www.men-intl.com

Know Your Resources– Effective leaders must know what they have, and they

must train their team members to start with whatever they have on hand.

– A wise leader looks for ways to involve his team members in as many productive activities as possible. A leader’s job is not to do, but to get things done.

– A wise leader will resist the impulse to do everything him or herself in favor of allowing the team members to learn and grow by doing it. A leader should, to the extent possible, do only those things which only he or she can do. The other tasks should be delegated.

Leadership Lessons of Jesus Christ

34Men's Empowerment Network

http://www.men-intl.com

Intimacy– More leadership has failed from a lack of intimacy than

from any other cause. – Leaders, no matter how brilliant or talented,

accomplish less than they might otherwise when they fail to establish close relationships with a few key people. Every time a leader tries to “go it alone”, something less than the best occurs.

– Leaders must develop a core group of team members in whom they confide and from whom they expect honest feedback and wholehearted support.

Leadership Lessons of Jesus Christ

35Men's Empowerment Network

http://www.men-intl.com

Faithfulness– In Biblical times, salt represented the faithfulness of

God. Salt reminded the Israelites of how faithful God had been to them, how He had kept his promises.

– Leaders and those who hold them accountable need to understand that they must adhere to a high standard of faithfulness.

– Leaders need to be able to say to their team, “I have been faithful. I expect the same from you”. When a leader cannot make this statement, an essential leadership asset is gone and much of the high ground of leadership has been lost.

Essence of Leadership

36Men's Empowerment Network

http://www.men-intl.com

True leadership is not a matter of having a title, a position, or an overwhelming personality. Leadership is first and foremost a matter of the heart.

Who is the leader that we need? The one who is a servant. Find the servant, and you’ve found your leader.

Leadership is not a position, it’s action.
