4ANNUAL MANAGEMENT REPORT 2015

The wealth of our region lies within the inner strength of our people. This is something we see each day in our conversations with the beneficiaries of our projects. Their motivation, their will to improve and to give their families everything they can are the engine that drives our efforts to reinforce our commitment with the sustainable development of Cajamarca.

Despite the unfavorable situation our region is going through, we are looking at the future with optimism because the main development engine is in the hearts and in the sharp minds of our citizens. Cajamarcans, Peruvians from other areas rooted in this fertile land, businesspeople, entrepreneurs, we all face these challenges aimed towards following the path of progress. We are all committed to this task, and it requires a group of priority changes that establishes a solid path of long-term growth.

The strategic alignment from ALAC with Minera Yanacocha has been transcendental in 2015. In a complex year, this joint effort has made it possible to optimize the use of corporate resources and improve the impact of the projects that were implemented. With the support of private companies, we will continue to improve conditions, abilities and competencies for thousands of boys, girls and teens, as well as farmers, artisans, entrepreneurs and base line organizations because we are convinced that progress rests on the abilities of the citizens, their motivation and the education of our children.

Our educational projects continue motivating the entrepreneurial spirit. It is important that, starting at a young age, our future citizens can develop their potential to the max. In order to do this, we aligned with the Sustainable Development Objectives of the United Nations, that propose to considerably increase the amount of young adults and adults with the necessary technical and professional competencies to get a decent job and to be entrepreneurs. The enterprising education will give future citizens the concepts of an ethical job, a proactive attitude, self-confidence and security in their enterprises, which will have positive repercussions in the sustainable development of the region.

Finally, we would like to thank our collaborators for their redoubled efforts to drive the results that we are presenting in this document. The tough times bring out the greatness in people. Furthermore, we want to thank the institutions and entities that support us in this commitment with Cajamarca that we must all take on. This means strengthening institutions, educating, arranging and building more and more bridges for dialogue that builds a better future.

Education with entrepreneurial visionBeing an organization that actively participates in supporting the sustainable development of Cajamarca, which makes us commit to focusing our intervention in one of the main pillars of development: education.

To contribute towards improving the quality and equality in education with an entrepreneurial vision, we encourage a teaching and learning process that seeks the integrated development of students,

focusing on the cognitive and socio-emotional aspects to help them reach their potentialities to the max. This concept is the basis to improve the lives of people and the sustainable development of Cajamarca.

Our objective in education is tied to the Sustainable Development Objectives of the United Nations, which establishes an ambitious goal for 2030: to substantially increase the number of young adults and adults with the necessary competencies, particularly, technical and professionals, to gain access to a job, decent work and business ventures.

WHAT DOES EDUCATION WITH AN ENTREPRENEURIAL VISION MEAN?It means that when students graduate from regular basic education and throughout their whole lives are able to acquire the competencies needed to help them achieve their personal and collective objectives in specific situations, cooperatively working ethically and with an entrepreneurial attitude, looking for solutions to economic or social problems, thus contributing to the sustainable development of their community, country, and the world.

The entrepreneurial education has accomplished that many students develop original sustainable entrepreneurial initiatives.

WORKING TOGETHERThis effort requires a joint and articulated action from all the participants in the educational process in order to achieve the transcendental results that society expects. The new focus is centered in partnerships that have allowed to generate the right spaces and conditions to encourage training programs and work inclusion, promotion and strengthening of teenage business ventures.

Thus, we involve all public and private institutions that work towards the development of our region and our country in the task of improving the quality and equality in education with entrepreneurial vision. In this objective, for example, we implement projects for abilities development for teachers of regular basic education, with the involvement of students’ parents and local authorities (educational community) along with the Ministry of Education and the Regional Education Direction of Cajamarca.

It is necessary to highlight that in 2015 we received the award of “Recognition to the Education Partners 2015 – Towards the Highest Grade”, that the Ministry of Education awards for the participation and cooperation that companies in the private sector and the civil society organizations have in the implementation of prioritized educational policies by sector.

IDEAS THAT TRANSFORM LIVESWe are committed to the entrepreneurial vision. We trust that our educational innovation projects support the sustainable growth of our community, especially the sectors that need it the most. Along these lines, in 2015, we continue developing the following initiatives: Integrated School Network Project (PRIE), Promoting Reading, Entrepreneurial Education, Education for Life and TIC to Learn. Furthermore, we supported the strengthening of the professional abilities of Cajamarcans trough the Cajamarca Scholarship Program (PROBECA).

To move towards a future with opportunities, it is necessary to improve the academic performance of the elementary school students, as well as decreasing the drop-out and hold-back rates. The Integrated School Network Project (PRIE) was an initiative created to improve the educational quality of the most vulnerable infancy in Cajamarca. The PRIE ended their activities in 2015 with a comprehensive work in the eighth socio-educational network: La Zanja, where 6 educational institutions participated, along with 107 elementary school children from the provinces of Santa Cruz and San Miguel. Going on 5 years of activities, PRIE has benefitted 82 rural elementary schools catering to 4,900 children and 302 teachers and principals.

Aside from training teachers, principals and parents, the PRIE implemented an accompaniment, monitoring and assessment system. It is about getting schools to provide an innovative and sustainable education based on a culture of teamwork and quality.

The project has explored all the possibilities for synergy. It worked together with school principals, teachers, authorities and parents, which means it tackled the problem from an integrated perspective. It developed 3 components: (1) learning community: networks of ten schools that share their experiences; (2) training to administration, teachers and families; (3) accompaniment system in the classroom, monitoring and assessment.

The training workshops were organized through annual diplomas handed out to teachers, principals and parents that completed the process. They were aimed at turning educational centers into “models of management of successful schools”. The parents’ role in the process was very important because it served as a reinforcement and motivation at home, which contributed to generate an ideal environment for learning. Since the conception of the project, more than 6,000 hours of training have been taught. In terms of the children, the project was aimed at developing their competencies in 5 plans: Plan I Read: reading comprehension; Plan I Think: critical thinking and logical reasoning; Plan I Communicate: communication skills; Plan I Get Integrated: favor socialization; and Plan I Learn: elaborate personal development objectives and encourage self-learning.

To continue and strengthen the intervention of PRIE, the Promoting Reading in Cajamarca project – through an inspiring proposal – seeks to promote the habit of reading in more than 6,115 children in 182 elementary level educational institutions, located in the provinces of Cajamarca and Celendín. The project, focused in the Communication area, works along with the pedagogical and didactic tools of the Ministry of Education. In 2015 the project was launched with the conference “Reading, the other revolution”, held by the renowned Argentine writer María Teresa Andruetto.

Literature is also a vehicle for personal and social transformation. Therefore, it’s important that schools have a varied and high-quality library. In 2015, more than 25,000 books donated by Children International were already in the educational institutions and available for the students. In this line, 675 copies of Tales and Legends of Cajamarca were distributed in the participant educational institutions.

In terms of training, the Development of Communication Competencies was implemented to improve the Teaching Pedagogical Practice, which reached 148 Educational Institutions and 352 teachers.

“The training on production of texts and promoting reading has been a nice experience because it helps strengthen body language communication and oral expression in our students; furthermore, this will have a multiplier effect in the students and their families. This training has also helped us improve our performance in the classroom, the way we teach becomes more active because we interact with the student and motivate them to participate, giving them a safe environment to let go of their fears”.Profesora Celinda Saldaña Vásquez, Educational Institution of Rejopampa

Aside from the 25,156 texts delivered, the Promoting Reading project distributed 675 copies of the Tales and Legends of Cajamarca book among the participant schools. The book was written and illustrated by the students of the Educational Institutions that participated in the PRIE.

2726ANNUAL MANAGEMENT REPORT 2015

The entrepreneurial spirit includes the development of personal abilities of extraordinary value for future citizens, such as creativity, self-confidence, leadership, acknowledging failure and transforming it into experience, positive attitude towards innovation, as well as teamwork and cooperation. The goal of the Entrepreneurial Education project in Cajamarca is to foster that spirit in 7,395 students in high school in 39 Educational Institutions in Cajamarca and Celendín.

In 2015 we developed 2 workshops and 12 miniworkshops aimed towards teachers. In total, we had around 67 participating teachers in the training processes. An important component is the participation of businesspeople, and in that sense, 34 business leaders were committed to participate as mentors to the students. Furthermore, the accompaniment visits were done so that students recognize their strengths, skills, identify their tastes and interests. This way, they can articulate all those knowledges with their needs to communicate and create ideas for sustainable businesses.

In order to supplement education, it is important to focus on developing the social skills of the youngest. The Education for Living project recognizes that these competencies are fundamental for kids to adapt

to their surroundings and, subsequently, they will adequately behave in all the spaces of social interaction. The goal of the project is to improve the social skills of elementary students from 8 Educational Institutions of the Sorochuco district, strengthening the soft skills of teachers to improve the environment in school and reinforce the communication and math strategies.

The project started in August 2014 and ended in March 2015. During the last year, we worked with parents and authorities, we assessed the children and the educational planning of teachers. When it comes to socio-emotional development, students find themselves in a middle level when handling emotions; as well as presenting better skills in handling happy feelings and expressing them easily.

The educational proposal is presented to the professionals in the region. The Cajamarca Scholarship Program (PROBECA) has the objective of strengthening the human capital of the professionals in Cajamarca that drive the growth of competition for the sustainable development of the region of Cajamarca. The program promotes cooperation relationships with local, national and international universities and specialized entities, such as Fulbright and the Embassy of France. It offers scholarships

PROBECA opens the doors for the world of Academia to Cajamarcan professionals who wish to contribute to the sustainable development of their region.

“I am very excited because it is the second year I enter the contest and I think that with effort and perseverance I have managed to attain the awaited scholarship. This opportunity will allow me to take advantage of the knowledge and learning that I can get from this Master’s program and generate positive changes in my community”.Víctor Muguerza, scholarship holder 2015

“I am very happy because this has been a year-long work and the fair shows the results so we see committed kids with innovative and creative proposals, kids convinced of what they’re saying, that feel like they are achieving their dreams”.Ruth Anastacio Valenzuela, representative of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI)

The Entrepreneurial Education Project, aside from practical ideas, contributes to reinforce personal and social interaction skills, such as creativity, self-confidence, positive attitude, teamwork, cooperation, and others.

for Master’s studies and it gives information about scholarships offered by many foundations, embassies and universities. The information is available in www.becascajamarca.com

Through the Work Inclusion Plan in PROBECA, 8 grant holders were included in the work market in public and private institutions of Cajamarca, and some of them have started their personal enterprises. Furthermore, in connection with the Fulbright Commission, the program granted a Master’s scholarship in the American University of Washington DC, US, and it continues to further the strengthening of the soft skills of the grant holders that have earned their Master’s and have returned to Cajamarca, through the Leadership Program.

Another essential aspect to improve educational quality is the adequate use of information and communication technologies. The TIC project to Learn provided in 2014 the conditions necessary for the use of the technology to 7 Educational Institutions in the province of Cajamarca. In 2015, as a

complement of the project, the water treatment works to improve the access to safe water and proper hygienic services were finished in all the educational institutions that participated.

There are small actions that can achieve positive and lasting impacts. The start of the school year is an excellent time to promote a good environment for studying, welcoming the children to school with enthusiasm. In that sense, we are part of the national strategy called Good Start of the School Year, led by the Ministry of Education, participating in the Educational Institution 82151 of Chanta Alta in the district of La Encañada. Furthermore, we delivered educational material to the Educational Institution Cruzpampa in the district of Sorochuco, along with the team of community relations of the project Conga. Finally, we organized the painting contest of Good Water Use and Care to raise awareness of the students of the Educational Institution Hno. Miguel Carducci about this vital issue. The contest was a playful complement that arose with the goal of complementing the improvement of water supply projects that were executed along with SEDACAJ and that are detailed in the water and infrastructure chapter.

7 worldwide integrated rural educational institutions thanks to the TIC to Learn project

“I would like to highlight the commitment of three institutions, which are ALAC, the Regional Office of Education of Cajamarca and Practical Solutions, that have joined efforts and contributed to improve the educational quality of the institutions where they have intervened”.Ever Ruiz Regalado, Assistant Manager for Social and Human Development of the Regional Government of Cajamarca.

PRODUCTIVE AND BUSINESS ABILITIESWe are committed to developing productive and business abilities with social responsibility because we believe that they contribute to achieving direct impacts on society, formal and quality jobs, reduction of poverty and the care for the environment. This means improving the abilities of businesspeople, producers and base line organizations with business entrepreneurs in organization, production and commercialization aspects, but – simultaneously – raising awareness among them about the concepts of social responsibility.

Currently, social responsibility is a strategic value. It is fundamental to delve into and teach about these concepts in order to meet the ethical, legal, social and environmental expectations that the Stakeholders want. Promoting these principles among the benefiting companies of our projects will let them improve their competitiveness, increase their earnings, access to more demanding markets and acting with social responsibility.

In order to reach this goal, we developed events for training, technical support and accompaniment. Furthermore, we shared technological and commercial information based on the market demands, in order to improve the production and commercialization aspects and, in some cases, to grant access to credits or financing.

With that in mind, the market studies and the business plans have been an essential management tool for the growth of businesses and the gradual transformation from a vision of a base line organization (essentially social) to an organization with a marketing focus.

The active participation of the 217 producers of golden berries has been a vital part of the success of this project.

4140ANNUAL MANAGEMENT REPORT 2015

WORKING TOGETHERWe work creating interaction spaces and in a team with public and private institutions, grassroots organizations and the business sector, through communication, coordination and balance, in order to achieve our objectives with effectiveness.

In that sense, we have worked directly with producers, businesspeople, associations, specialized technical entities that are linked to the different productive sectors. All this to generate a coming together between the market and the producers that facilitates a mutual benefit.

Part of our objective is to get the producer to understand the market needs and produce accordingly. This way of looking at the business is important to satisfy the demand and the expectations of the consumers. This opens up new opportunities and possibilities so that our producers and businesspeople achieve the development that allows them to keep investing in strengthening their activity. The growth of the small producers generates new quality job openings, which is also part of this strategic objective.

IDEAS THAT CHANGE LIVESThe projects that are part of this strategic objective strive towards developing efficient organization with a future view and socially and environmentally responsible. We act in sectors that have a great market potential and we support base line organizations, companies and rural and urban enterprises in Cajamarca. This commitment is evident in the initiatives: Contest Fund of small productive projects, Creating and Strengthening Credit and Savings Unions, Increasing work in Cajamarca based on the tourism development, Projects financed by ALAC/Yanacocha – FONDOEMPLEO and the Alternative Income Program (PIA).

Small undertakings may be big economic and social transformation vehicles. The contest Fund of small productive projects co-finances business ideas selected through an annual contest. The strengthening of ongoing productive activities contributes to improve the quality of life of the producers by increasing their income, generation of jobs and organizational strengthening focused on base line development. Its main specific objectives are: a) to promote the organizational and institutional capacity building of grassroots organizations (OdB); b) to develop synergies between the different social agents (public and private) surrounding the OdB; c) to promote and strengthen job generation; d) to improve the production

“I feel very excited today because I see our dream come true. To be able to participate in the 6th project contest of ALAC has helped us a lot to reinforce our knowledge and experience and thus, be more competitive. Our vision is to improve our quality of life and give an added value to the product we already had. ALAC/Yanacocha has given us the seed ad we are cultivating the plant”.Julián Calderón, president of Asociación La Shacsha

The Contest Fund aims towards contributing to improve the quality of life of the producers through organizational and institutional capacity building, job generation, improvement of production systems and access to markets, credit and funding.

4544ANNUAL MANAGEMENT REPORT 2015

systems; and e) capacity building for access to markets, credit, and funding.

In 2015 we executed the 4 winner projects of the 6th contest. Amongst which the capacity building activities of 53 project partners stand out. Furthermore, there were transcending achievements in every initiative for their sustainability, such as getting an organic certification for quinoa production, 33% increase on the income of the partners of the honey project and implementing a production plant of dairy products. On the other hand, the paperwork for the 4 chosen projects from the 7th contest, organized in 2015, was started.

The commercial articulation is a vital component for business success. The organizations have participated in 4 fairs where they displayed and sold their products.

A different but equally important strategy to drive income in rural families and take them out of poverty, is Creating and Strengthening Credit and Savings Unions (UNICA). These organizations, brought together by the confidence and undertaking of its members, develop the savings culture to grant credits to their partners and execute productive activities to improve their family income.

August 2015 marked a new stage of the project. The goal was to increase the economic income of the participants in the UNICAs formed between 2008 and 2013. In order to achieve this, they have worked on strengthening the organizational and financial abilities, promoting building productive networks so that they can leverage the opportunities the market has to offer.

In that respect, in 2015 we accompanied 200 UNICAs in their community assemblies to treat issues of organizational, administrative and financial strengthening. On the other hand, 20 new UNICAs were established in Los Baños del Inca during the period we reported. The concept of the UNICAs is tied to the cooperation and the active participation of its members. In the General Assembly organized in 2015, there were 465 members from 109 UNICAs. In this integration space, there were 10 productive enterprises of great potential endorsed: textiles, handicraft, Guinea pigs, vegetables, quinoa, roses, basket weaving, among others.

Another activity that has the potential to be developed, sustainable, and generate new jobs is tourism. The Increasing jobs in Cajamarca based on tourism development project (PROTURISMO) is aimed towards increasing the number of tourists that visit the main attractions in the province of Cajamarca.

In 2015, the project trained 200 UNICAs formed between 2008 and 2013 in organization, management and financing.

“What we want is the economic and social development of the populations that have been excluded from the regulated financial system, this is why our job is aimed at the rural areas were we strengthen the bonds of trust among the population so they can set up their UNICA. We have more than 200 UNICAs created in the Cajamarca region and ALAC/Yanacocha has been a strategic partner in this intervention where we see important data, that have come up without assistance, without seed capital, but with the work that we have given to the revolving funds”.Manuel Layseca, Assistant Manager for the Development Management of COFIDE

4948ANNUAL MANAGEMENT REPORT 2015

Se contribuyó alincremento del 54%del flujo turístico en Cumbemayo, Cuarto deL Rescate, Ventanillas de Otuzco y Kunturwasi.

Keeping in mind the opportunity that this activity represents, PROTURISMO has implemented a tourism promoting plan with the support of PROMPERU. Furthermore, through the Touristic Product Committee, it has offered 3 projects to improve the touristic offer: The route of the encounter of two worlds, Art and religion, and the implementation project of the Interpretation Center of the Archeological Complex of Cumbemayo.

The partnership with institutions that specialize in financing and endorsing the development of capabilities has been a strategy with a great impact in the region. In this line of action, there have been 7 co-financed projects executed for the National Labor Training and Job Promotion Fund (FONDOEMPLEO) and Yanacocha (through ALAC). The projects are focused on labor training and insertion, promotion and strengthening of youth enterprising, and sustainable productive projects. In 2015 these initiatives generated 287 jobs.

When it comes to labor training and insertion, with the support of the national program Impulsa Perú, we trained 486 low-income or at-risk young adults in the job market, 73 of them found a stable job. Furthermore, along with SENATI Cajamarca, we trained 189 young adults in technical competencies with

a high demand in the job market. The project was aimed at improving their abilities to allow them to access formal and adequately compensated jobs. 31 young people got an adequate job.

Young adults have the energy and ideas necessary to pave their own way. By promoting among them a culture of entrepreneurship, it will allow them to channel their concerns to develop sustainable businesses and generate their own jobs. Along with the National program of Youth Employment Youngsters to the Task, we managed to train 321 low-income young adults in business plan elaboration in Cajamarca, Los Baños del Inca, La Encañada and Celendín; 30 of them got a seed capital of 2500 soles to start their business ventures. Along with the César Vallejo Regional Development Institute, we developed enterprising abilities and social skills in 222 young people in the districts of Celendín and Huasmín; we developed 200 business plans and implemented 43. Likewise, with the support of APRENDA S.A., we encouraged the creation of new enterprises and strengthened the existent businesses of young people in the districts of Cajamarca and Los Baños del Inca. The project trained 353 young people in business management and 150 were advised and created their business plans. Also, 12 beneficiaries got a seed capital of 2 000 soles to implement their business. We contributed to a 54% increase in tourism flow in Cumbemayo, Cuarto del Rescate, Ventanillas de Otuzco and Kunturwasi.

5150ANNUAL MANAGEMENT REPORT 2015

The co-financing projects with FONDOEMPLEO handed out a seed capital to 62 young people to embark on their endeavors.

“The project has helped me improve my business and it helps me, because the earnings allow me to support my kids in their studies, and also in the economy of my house, I have my own business, safe, and no one can take it from me”.Marleny Estaurófila, recipient of the seed capital

The sustainable productive projects had the objective to improve the quality, productivity and competitiveness; and thus increase the income and number of jobs. Along with FONCREAGRO, in the districts of Cajamarca, Los Baños del Inca, and La Encañada, we provided technical assistance to 600 milking livestock producers in managing pasture, reproductive and health indexes in their livestock. Also, we managed to create 1 association of producers of dairy products.

In a joint effort with the Civil Association for the Forest Investigation and Development (ADEFOR), we worked with 130 owners of reforested areas in the production and commercialization of edible mushrooms in the districts of Cajamarca and La Encañada. The trainings were focused in conditioning the pine forests, nutritional and economic value of the mushrooms and the dehydration and packing process. In 2015 it generated 45 071 soles in sales and produced 1 365.8 kg of dry mushrooms.

In the productive project line, 3 developed initiatives in the area of the Conga Project of Yanacocha are transforming the organization, production and commercialization of small producers in the area. The Alternative Income Program (PIA) was born with the objective to generate income through strengthening the production of potatoes, increasing the offer of native fruits and the development of the chain of dairy products.

In the districts of Huasmín, Sorochuco and La Encañada, we trained 617 potato farmers in the strengthening of their organization. Through the project they were able to sell 40 888 kg of native potatoes in a renowned supermarket of Cajamarca for 85 810 soles.

In Celendín, golden berry is gaining ground in demanding markets. The project, which started in August 2015, managed to get a commercial articulation to export golden berry to Italy. 217 producers participated in promoting this farming, furthermore 120 are being trained in technical-productive handling. At the end of 2015, there were 13.8 hectares from 68 producers installed with organic golden berry.

Cajamarca is well known for its cheese tradition. The Development of the Dairy Product Chain Project aims towards improving income and the offered product of 9 microprocessors of cheese in the area of Jadibamba in the district of Huasmín, through technical capacity building and quality standards. Just like the golden berry project, the strengthening stage was launched in August 2015. In order to do that, a diagnostic of the micro processing plants and its end product was done, along with guidelines for the strengthening of their capabilities.

130 people took part in the production and commercialization of edible mushrooms project.

“I see a great opportunity with forming the co-op business for the production of edible mushrooms, because doing this we can work together and won’t waste the product, like we did before. We are approximately 42 members that are harvesting and with that we have an extra income for our families”.Ernesto Vargas Mendoza, president of the cooperative Jalca Verde

The beneficiaries of the Competitive Production of Potato project managed to sell 40 888 kg of potato to a renowned local supermarket.

“I’m sure that not even my fellow Cajamarcans know the amount of wealth we have in our mountains, all the varieties of native potatoes. With the PROPAPA project we were able to make these delicious products known and offer them to larger and larger markets. The training sessions have helped me improve my production and now I counsel other farmers”.Eduardo Infante, potato farmer from the Los Andes de Coñicorgue Association

Investment with an emphasis on waterThe impact that the investment in social infrastructure generates directly improves the quality of life of the people, since it contributes to ensure and satisfy the basic needs of society. In that respect, we are striving to create synergies between the public and private sectors to channel their resources and allocate them to investments that are transcendent for the region, especially, to water and sanitation projects, optimizing the quality and quantity of this resource.

The interventions in 2015 were focused on closing activities from the Mining Solidarity with the People of Cajamarca Program and on executing projects of endorsed agreements between ALAC/Yanacocha.

With the effort of the public and private sector, we actively participate to contribute to the sustainable development of the communities where different projects of social infrastructure are executed. This commitment is critical, it takes time, human and economic resources to reach the goal that all public and private institutions have set.

Working in a teamAn organized team work allows us to get results that go beyond isolated efforts. We work with the regional and local governments through alliances. Furthermore, we have the commitment of the Service Provider Company of Potable Water and Sewage of Cajamarca (EPS SEDACAJ, Hidrandina and Sub Sectorial Irrigations Program – PSI).

IDEAS THAT TRANSFORM LIVESThrough the firm commitment of promoting welfare and social development, improving life conditions of populations and community, mainly of the influence area of Yanacocha, the Mining Solidarity with the People of Cajamarca Program (PMSC), since 2007, we executed projects for nutrition, education, health, public management capacity building, basic infrastructure: power, water, sanitation, access roads and rural pathways, and local and rural impact work. The PMSC is in the closing process. In 2015 we finished different interventions.

The pre-investment studies and technical files are fundamental tools to execute any infrastructure project. In 2015 we prepared profiles that will benefit 33 educational institutions, 1 profile for the UGEL of Cajamarca and 2 approved technical files for Aldea Infantil and for the regional archive of Cajamarca.

Another component that speeds up the constructions is the physical sanitation. In that respect, the legal conditions were created for the Regional Government of Cajamarca to generate the technical construction files or improvement in the educational and health infrastructure. We finished with the physical-legal sanitation of 148 properties.

When it comes to productive projects, the supply of the water reservoir of the Livestock Plaza of Iscoconga is assured thanks to the drilling of a well to capture subterranean water, that produces a flow of 2.5 liters per second. The technical file and installation of the infrastructure for the pumping system are in the process of elaboration.

ACCORDING TO THE TECHNICAL FILE CONSTRUCTED BY ALAC, 736 CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS OF CAJAMARCA WILL BENEFIT FROM ALDEA INFANTIL.

6766ANNUAL MANAGEMENT REPORT 2015

Sport and culture are an essential part of the quality of life of a city. The multiuse colosseum built in the Qhapaq Ñan complex is a modern and emblematic construction. We were committed to equip it and in 2015 we delivered to the Provincial Municipality of Cajamarca for its operation and maintenance 1 500 m2 of sport surface, equipment for futsal, basket and volleyball, 8 000 bleachers, 2 electronic scoreboards, an audio environment system and a cube of 4 led screens. The total investment was of 969 271.79 USD.

The sufficient supply of potable water and adequate sanitation is a human right that guarantees a healthy quality of life. Furthermore, having the adequate basic services is necessary for social inclusion and it generates impacts on the economy of the most vulnerable populations.

We execute the Water for Cajamarca program in the urban areas thanks to a joint effort between the Provincial Municipality, SEDACAJ, Yanacocha and ALAC, aimed towards improving piping, installing more connections and widening the distribution of potable water in the city. In 2015, an agreement was signed to expand and improve the treatment capacity of the potable water plants El Milagro and Santa

Apolonia, as well as implementing an important project that will allow detection and reduction of water losses in 100% of the city. In the southern sector of the city, we installed potable water networks that immediately improved the quality of life of 16 000 families, close to 80 000 people, with this precious resource. The projects that are being executed in the rural areas are focused on contributing to the improvement of the health conditions of the population, promoting self-management of the water and sanitation services and develop healthy lifestyles in the families. It is about integrated initiatives formed by the potable water system (SAP), administration, operation and maintenance (AOM) and sanitation education (EDUSA).

In 2015 we built 2 potable water and latrine systems in the regions of Quinuapampa and Namococha. In the infrastructure constructions, executed by contractor companies in the area, they used qualified and non-qualified workforce (male and female) and rural freight from the same community. Temporal jobs were generated and capacities in constructive, security and environment processes were built.

“This step that we are taking today is transcendent, because continuing with a strategic Alliance that started during the previous administrations, if there hadn’t been a decision by ALAC/Yanacocha, from SEDACAJ and the current administration, it would have ended there, but being aware of the commitment from this administration, we continue to move forward with this important program that we have named Water for Everyone”.Manuel Becerra, mayor of the province of Cajamarca.

“The EDUSA project has been a good choice for us because it has helped us improve our homes and live a little better. We, as authorities, have to make sure that it goes on, that the trained citizens continue practicing what they have learned, for example selecting trash, having clean latrines, as we have been told in the lectures. We are a little better now thanks to this support, we have improved greatly because of the workshops we have received. We may not have known about the strategies before, but now we are putting them to the test”.Segundo Baylón Huamán Chávez, Lieutenant Governor of the El Valle hamlet

The Sanitation Education exists to promote healthy habits in the population. Because of the development of the project, 42% of families achieved a healthy lifestyle in their homes.

717170ANNUAL MANAGEMENT REPORT 2015

7372ANNUAL MANAGEMENT REPORT 2015

The EDUSA processes and the training to the Administrative Assemblies for Service and Sanitation (JASS) I AOM were executed by ALAC in Quinuapampa, Namococha and El Valle, in the district of La Encañada. Generally, around 90% of families had inadequate personal and household hygiene. The EDUSA component was created to transform those results into healthy habits. After the intervention, 42% of families achieved a healthy lifestyle in their homes. The project promoted the construction of trash tanks and organic and inorganic residue selection; improvement of the kitchen environment; implementation of the cleaning corner; adequate use and maintenance of latrines; the order and cleanliness of households; adequate handling of water for consumption; among other healthy habits. It is worth noting that 82 school children from elementary and primary level participated in the sanitation education actions and now have hygiene habits. In the AOM component, we worked to give the users the proper tools to keep their water system in good conditions. The participants got to know how a potable water system works and the adequate cleaning and disinfection. Furthermore, the project included the constitution of the JASS and the optimization of its management.

By improving the risk infrastructure, we managed to provide a higher volume of water to the Jadibamba – Jerez channel, in the Huasmín district. The project was aimed at improving the quality of life in the hamlets Shita, Shanipata, Chilac No8, Shiuat and Jerez, through the increase of the farming and livestock production and productivity. The construction was transferred to the irrigation committee. On the other hand, along with the Sub Sectorial Irrigations Program (PSI), promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, we were committed to co-finance the corresponding correction to the Business Management Groups (GGE) required by the PSI to execute irrigation projects. In accordance with the Committee of Users of the River Chonta (JURCH), in order to get approval and start irrigation infrastructure works in the districts of La Encañada and Los Baños del Inca, we elaborated 4 profiles (declared viable) and 1 technical file (approved). All 5 files are in process.

The Jadibamba-Jerez channel has a higher water volume to increase the farming and livestock production. This project has improved the quality of life of the channel users in 5 hamlets.

“We have done this for a common good, so that it can benefit all the communities that used to have many difficulties in the critical parts of the channel and thus is favorable for users. I call upon all users to continue working together, so that they can contribute to make the things we need a reality”.Florentino Maita, President of the Committee of Users of the Jadibamba-Jerez Channel

“It’s very beneficial to us to have our water system, because it will prevent diseases and our children will grow up healthy, and we will not have to carry water from the river anymore, but we will have potable water in our homes and that’s a step forward for us”.Fabián Mestanza Carhuatay, president of the JASS

The Potable Water Systems built in 2015 have allowed 146 families to lead a healthier life.
