Membership Sales Coordinator Supervised by: Membership Director Position Status: Part time; - 23 Hours / Hourly Non-Exempt

Summary

Responsible for developing leads for prospective members, providing information to prospective members, and enrolling new members. Position assists management in meeting objectives for membership sales and financial goals, reports on sales goals and membership trends, responsive to both current and prospective members, assists Membership Director, and maintains high level of customer service in all areas.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Responds to telephone, walk-ins and e-mail membership inquiries, booking and maintaining appointments for potential members to tour the MJCC

• Conduct walking tours of building and campus for purpose of selling memberships in person to person situations.

• Understands the goals of prospective members and suggests ways to achieve them. Present approved membership options and prices to prospective members

• Follow-up with prospective members through telephone and email. • Complete all membership paperwork for new members, including application and

orientation requirements. Takes photos and issues key fobs. Gets signatures on appropriate paper work such as pay plan and applications.

• Develop relationships with members and encourage member referrals. • Conducts new member onboarding steps: phone calls, emails and follow up to build

relationships and engage new members with the MJCC. • Attempts to retain members who are cancelling or not renewing their membership.

Discusses category changes, usage of programs and services, etc. If unable to retain memberships, works with director of membership & accounting to confirm date of

last payment, advise member of their last payment dates and end of the memberships.

• Work with the Member Service Desk personnel, able to provide breaks, count cash and change, answer phones and direct calls.

• Assists Membership Director with reports. Advises of daily/weekly/monthly sales and potential sales using Quattro and other software and spreadsheets.

• Assists Membership Director to watch trends in membership base. Maintains knowledge for local athletic and sports competition.

• Assists Membership Director with corporate discount program. Looks for companies with which to partner. Develops ideas and actively reaches out to companies to present the corporate discount program. Maintains contact with corporate liaisons for periodic offers, and for period review of employees with discounts.

• Assists Membership Director developing leads for walk in business. Participates in trade shows, expos, festivals, etc.

• Prepares for, attends and actively participates in sales meetings. Evaluates sales strategies and sales presentations to identify improvement areas. Constantly strives to improve knowledge and application of all sales skills, in order to improve measurable sales performance – such as closing percentage rate, number of sales, number of membership upgrades, etc.

• Other duties as assigned to support MJCC missions and programs. Skills and Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university preferred. • Proven track record in membership sales in a membership-driven, multi-purpose

facility, preferably two years previous experience in a similar role. • Extremely personable, professional, and hard-working with exceptional organizational

skills. • Proficient at using systems to track tours, membership data, and follow up. • Able to give walking tours of building and campus and building, determine needs of

potential member, offer solutions and close the sale. • Self-directed, motivated, creative. Ability to work with diverse populations. • Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, Email, Internet. • Must be able to learn Quattro and other membership based software.
