Hello to All. Hope everyone is enjoying the Summer Season. It’s been a hot one for sure. I’d like to thanks Bob Longmuir and all those who helped make this year’s Clamfest a HUGE SUCCESS! It was a special day with our Legion Family and their friends. Thanks again Bob. The 1st annual “Feed the Vets” Walk will be Sunday August 19 at Long-branch Park. Registration is 8AM. Please stop by and support our Veterans and their families. The OVER 21 BEACH PARTY is Saturday August 4th 1 - 5 PM. It is hosted by the Sons and Auxiliary. Let’s help make this an annual event for the Legion. Helpers are needed and if you’re interested you may contact Linda Jackson or Bill Bell Sr. Tickets for this event are available at the Bar or from Linda Jack-son. The Vietnam Traveling Wall will be at the Edick-Hamlink V.F.W. Post 369 in Mexico (5930 Scenic Ave.) from July 26 to 29. Our Legion Riders and the Patri-ot Guard will meet at the V.F.W. Post in Phoenix on July 25th and lead the Wall escort into Mexico. For those who haven’t seen the Wall, you’re missing a special event and a real healing process. It is a great way to pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. I want to thank Dave Plato and the Color Guard for their lead in the Flag Re-tirement Ceremony on June 14th and also the July 9th “Renovating Hope” pro-gram for our Wounded Warrior from Bridgeport, Sgt. Jason Moseley. “You Stood Tall! Hope to see everyone at the Legion. Please come in often and become an active member. As Always - Welcome Brothers & Sisters - Welcome Home! Mark Adams - Commander

Adjutant’s Agitation By Doug Herrmann
The year for 2013 dues has started and as always, I am ask-
ing that everyone get their renewal in as soon as possible.
People who use ONLINE RENEWAL have to remember one
thing. Print out the temporary online member card, and
make sure that you get that receipt on the bottom to me so
your permanent card can be sent to you. I can see by the
numbers on the National website for membership that we
have had 15 members renew so far BUT I have only received
two of these receipts. National is a little slow on letting us
know the names of the members who renew on line, so unless
you send me the receipt, it will sometimes take over a month
or two for me to get you the card.
We have several new members, Welcome to Eduardo Gon-
zalez; Susan G Scherer; Luther Everson;, Kenneth Yackel;
Edward Mapstone; Jean Kraus; Gerald Paoletti, and Alfonse
DeAnthony.
LETS ALL GET OUR RENEWALS IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
THIS YEAR.

Hello fellow Legion members. We are right in the middle of some great riding weather, with sched-uled rides each weekend. One of the recent rides enjoyed by a con-tingent of Legion Riders was the Hannibal Vet Fest. Led by Ned Barnes and Kirk Wilson we rode to Hannibal for a great day of food and entertainment. We rode to the Phoenix Legion, on to the Port Byron Legion and back to Hannibal. All proceeds from the ride went to charity. We welcome our two newest members, Larry Olivia and Ryan Derby to the ranks. After the loss to relocating of a few of our mem-bers the membership now stands at 70. The recent scrap drive for Feed our Vets, organized by the Riders netted an almost full dumpster, and the gratitude of Rich Synek and his staff. Thanks to all who donated to a great cause. There is a walk-a-thon for them on August 19th at Long Branch Park, donation of $15.00 gets you a shirt, pin and chicken BBQ. Remember this is a local organization working for Vets in our communities, and deserves all the support we can lend. I am happy to report that the 427th BSB received 110 DVD's and 109 CD's recently through the Riders and the donations of the Legion and local merchants. I want to thank Walmart, Price Chopper and Wegman's for their support. Most of all I would like to thank Family Video at Morgan and Henry Clay Blvd. for their gener-osity which netted us 21 DVD's. They also provided 1 million DVD's to the troops last year through their network nationwide. This is a store that deserves our patronage! The Riders have a new website created by Chad Waybright, at alr787.com, check it out. If you are interested in joining us contact me at [email protected]. Our next meeting is August 7th at 7pm. Remember, Freedom isn't free! Support our troops Bruce Dauer V. Pres. ALR 787

American Legion Riders — Post 787
The Legion Riders of the James Harvey Spire American Legion Post number seventy active members, and three support members. You must be a member of the Legion, Sons, or the Auxiliary to join. You must also have a motorcycle. Formed in Michigan at Legion Post 396 in 1993, the Riders have grown to 1000 chapters including three foreign ones. The Legion Riders number 106,000 and growing. The Legion Legacy Run has raised millions for scholarships for children of military killed after 9-11-01. Other events supported include Rolling Thunder, Wounded Warrior Project and many more. These events provide funding for Vet programs, schools, hospitals and the list goes on. Locally, our group supports Feed Our Vets, TAPS, the Military Courtesy Room at the Syracuse Airport and local charities. We raised $20,000 through a fundraiser to aid the Military Courtesy Room, and even donated $700 total to a Wounded Warrior event in Indianapolis last year. We currently are providing support to the 427th BSB both in Afghanistan and their support group here. Our goal is to provide assistance to our Troops and Vets where we can, while sharing our love of motorcycles. The Riders have created a legacy of their own within the Legion and can be very proud of that. For more info - see Fred Stone, Bruce Dauer, or visit the website: www.alr787.com.

The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever. Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their stated reason for the policy is because the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves. Here endeth the lesson!
