DESCRIPTION
The Clinical Leadership Fellowships aim to support the transformation of leadership in the NHS by offering clinical professionals the opportunity to develop leadership skills through a structured learning and experiential programme. This two-day event saw 59 of our 2011 graduating Fellows share reflections and successes of their hard work over the past year. We heard some truly remarkable examples of how the programme enabled clinical professionals to improve and even transform services for patients. We also welcomed 80 new Fellows for the 2012 intake. Joining in the welcome celebrations were Jan Sobieraj, Managing Director of the NHS Leadership Academy, Sir David Nicholson, NHS Chief Executive and Chief Executive of the NHS Commissioning Board Authority, and Anna Soubry MP, new health minister.TRANSCRIPT
The Access Project: IAPT Camden & Islington FTReducing waiting times to psychological
therapies in primary care.
Overview of the ProjectThe overall aim of my project is to reduce waiting times fortreatment interventions in an established busy inner cityIAPT service (Improving Access to PsychologicalTherapies). Under the banner of my project are severalsmaller projects, such as a newly modelled care pathwayfrom referral to treatment, newly developing technologiessuch as electronic referral through ʻGP Padʼ, patient entryof psychometric data through remote IT devices, ʻchooseand bookʼ and a newly formed CBT group therapy serviceand remodelling of service delivery ʻfrom silo to hubʼ.
Leadership ChallengesI very much enjoy transformational leadership and amkeen to revolutionise systems and cultures and create newand sometimes radical solutions.failing to factor into plans the needs of others for supportand processing timeʼ.My analytical and logical skills mean that I am inclined to
examine a system or process critically and I have toactively remember to offer praise also.Compete and Collaborate more at timesIn conclusion then, whilst my leadership change projecthas become conflated with its context of organisationalchange and my new role, it has the potential to benefitfrom this interdependency.
ResultsThere have been two further kinds of gain related to myAccess project which has become an umbrella for a rollingprogram of innovation and improvement with a communityof members at all levels of the organization. There hasbeen an emergent culture shift in the organization and Ican foresee that the rewards gained will entice innovationand sustain changes made.
