The Local Picture
Many more energy dollars remain in our local economy with renewable energy and energy
efficiency.
For every dollar spent in the local economy, there is an economic multiplier effect of $2.50with in the region.
We are residents of a coastal ecosystem that has a Nitrogen problem and an air quality
problem.

A Snapshot of Falmouth
The Town of Falmouth uses 11,500,000 kilowatt hours annuallyThe 1.65 megawatt wind turbine will produce between 3.5 and4.5 million kilowatt hours annually-depending on the wind.
Falmouth has committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissionsand energy use by 10% by 2010.
Wind I will reduce the amount of fossil based electricity FalmouthConsumes to 8 million kilowatt hours.
Wind II will reduce the amount of fossil based electricity FalmouthConsumes to 4.5 million kilowatt hours.
Each turbine will offset 2,514 metric tons of CO2

How did we get support?
Sent out surveys to neighbors letting them know we
were thinking about a wind turbine at the WWTF Went door-to-door in the neighborhood near the
WWTF
Took bus trips to Hull
Conducted many Wind 101 workshops in thecommunity
Provided outreach at precinct meetings
Did articles in local paper and sent letters keepingabutters informed of our progress
Provided annual update on project at televisedselectmens meeting

Education needs to come first!
Get to your neighbors before the pressannounces the project
Ask for their feedback, questions & concerns
Provide factual, full disclosure education toaddress their concerns and interests
Keep them in the loop as much as possible

Be sure you ask reputable people to present
the information.
Remember that there are many people willing
to support these projects in many ways.
Peoples relationship with the issues matters alot. The more engaged and informed people
are, the better.

Single 1.65 MW Vestas V82 wind turbine generator
Located at Waste Water Treatment Facility BOP construction and turbine installation to be performed by
D&C Construction selected through competitive process.
Turbine will be owned by the Town of Falmouth
Turbine will be a net metering generator
O&M will be performed by 3rd party under long-term contract
Est. annual production = 3,624 MWh ( 25% NCF)
Useful life modeled as 20 years
