Cutter measuring equipmentprovides such a ~ystem whosedevelopment was based on itsmanufacturer's dual knowledge inboth toolmoking and the productionof optical measuring units.

The latest digital techniques combinedwith optical instrumentation and theuse of a microprocessor control systemare the outstanding choracteristics ofthis new generation of tool gaugingfacilities.

savings. The "heart!' of the UniversalCutter Measuring Unit, Type40.55.01.005, is a microprocessorcontrol system with 0 softwarespecifically developed for measurementson cutting tools.

The essential parameters of the variousconfigurations ore laid down inindividual programs that con easily becalled up due to a menu control easilyhandled by the operator.

Some programs offer an option betweenINDIVIDUALand SERIAL measurements.The former, for instance, handles therake and 1st and 2nd clearance anglesand the latter covers the rake or 1st or2nd clearance angles only. This latterprocess is faster and selVes to gaugegreater numbers.

The data will be linked in the micro­processor control system and theresults may- either be displayed on the screen- or printed aut by means of a matrix

printer.The print may by INDIVIDUALshowing one or more values of thetools last measured or a LISTINGwith a list enumerating all valuesmeasured on a tool.

Statistical evaluations and comparisonsof NOMINAL and ACTUAL values canbe made if tool data bases in extraneouscomputers are utilized.

An additional interface RS 232 may beinstalled for communication with lorge­scole computer systems.

This system permits consecutive rakeand clearance angle measurements inone operation.

Measurable values are:Rake angles between +35 0 and _25 0

Clearance angles up to _25 0

The rake and back-off angles arecontacted by measuring blades.

The accuracy achieved by means ofsuch blades is increased by the useof an optical system with a correctequalsided image and a lighting fixture.The monocular tube, offset through45 degrees, permits magnificationsof 10X, 20X or 30X by means ofinterchangeable eyepieces, dependingon the dimensions of the tool.
