Overview

Mega_Bridge adds flexible and fully featured internet protocol (IP) connectivity to the well-

established Mega_Link family of telemetry & control units used to pass two-way instrumentation,

measurement and control data between equipment and industrial plant.

IP connection scenarios range from simple self-contained Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area

Networks (WAN) to multiple networks anywhere across the internet for distributed geographical

areas and remote locations.

IP Communications via Local or Wide Area Network

A system of Mega_Links, each with an associated Mega_Bridge can be used to communicate

over any existing local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN) system. Any

combination of network end-point communications media can be used.

IP Communications via ADSL with VPN Tunneling

Mega_Bridge can work in conjunction with ADSL modem/routers to provide an easy and

effective solution for replacement of BT leased line systems.

Distributed IP Network Communications via Cloud Services

Mega_Bridge can work in conjunction with the secure cloud services platform provided by

Amazon Web Services (AWS) to give a cloud service which is fully administered by Churchill

Controls. This scenario offers a secure cross-network infrastructure by establishing an encrypted

communications channel via TLS v1.2 authentication and provides a fully secured system to the

end user.

Any combination of network end-point communications media can be used and there is the

facility to configure a primary and a secondary failback means of communciation in the event of a

communications outage.

Additional Benefits

The Mega_Bridge functionality is easily added as an expansion upgrade to an existing Mega_Link

system installation, already using communications links such as 458 or 869 MHz low power radio,

V23 leased line/private wire or GPRS.

Features

• Ethernet 802.3 10/100 Mbit/s, TCP/IP communications port

• Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n 2.4GHz/5GHz with antenna (external option)

• 3G/4G dongle communications(external option)

• Secure TLS v1.2 encryption with X.509 certificate authentication

• AES-256 Encryption available when connected through Churchill Controls VPN server

• USB 2.0 port for modular network options

• Highly user configurable; a Mega_Bridge unit operates in conjunction with each Mega_Link

basestation and outstation unit

• Standard Mega_Link data messages from the basestation are sent using TCP/IP over the

chosen internet connectivity media to be received at outstations and associated outstation

response messages are returned via same path

• Supports standard Mega_Link controlled scan rates; recommended 10 secs upwards

• Mini USB port used to connect the Mega_Bridge to a computer for initial configuration

• Linux based OPEN SOURCE operating system

• Mega_Bridge 5 V power supplied locally from host Mega_Link unit

Host Connections

Mega_Bridge connects to host Mega_Link fitted with a Mega_Bridge Interface Card (7503-1) via

the COM1 RJ45 connector.
