Ms. Richelle Forbes
New format this year
•I will pass along messages about Wentworth in general as well as talk about specifics in the homeroom of 4F
•Mr. Kennedy or Ms. Stevens (4-7) will drop in to say hello at some point in evening
A bit about myself
• Graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honours Degree in English.
•Received my Teaching Diploma at the University of Western Sydney, Australia
•18th year at Collingwood•Kindergarten (5 years), Grade 4 (the
remainder…)•Two children in the school (Grade 3 and
Grade 7)•Travel to and from Coquitlam each day

“Class moms”: Sabina (Kavika’s mom) and Wendy (Brookelynn’s mom)
Upcoming Field Trips• September 23rd-26th • All Grade 4 students should arrive at school by 7:30 and
will be departing from Wentworth at 7:50am Wednesday morning. Students are asked to drop all bags off outside the back door of their classrooms.
• We will return at 4:00 on Friday afternoon for pick up from Wentworth.
• September 22nd : Whytecliff Park: Shoreline Clean-up, Ecology based activities, leadership games. Regular arrival time at Wentworth, 4:00 return to Wentworth.
• September 21st : Grouse Mountain: First Nations Activity, Ecology Activities-all guided by Grouse staff. Regular arrival time at Wentworth, 4:00 return to Wentworth.
General School InformationSchool Day• Homeroom and attendance is done at 8:30am, if
arriving later students must get a late slip from reception
Parking, Drop-off and Pick-up • drop-off -- please give yourself extra time in the
morning, always better to arrive early.• pick-up -- be sure to put traffic pass on your window, be
punctual (not early or late) in order to make a most efficient process for all families
• please do not park on gravel lot or block it unless you are picking up JK children
General School Information
Pre/After School Care• Your child must be registered to be eligible
for pre or after school care.•Pre/After school care is an option for
working parents at 7:30am in the FSC. After school care is available until 5:30 pm.
•If you have an emergency, non-registered students cannot join in with daycare due to licensing issues, so they will be taken care of in the classroom until you arrive.

you are unsure whether you have completed the required forms, please ask as I do have a list. Emails went out today to families with incomplete forms.
• Hot lunch: portal is open. Please check school website for information.
• Absences: If your child is going to be away, please go to the Collingwood website and fill in an Attendance Notification Form –under quick links. (NEW this year)
General School InformationUniforms• Label all belongings• #1 dress on Wednesdays• Be aware of PE days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) –
Monday and Tuesday students may come in PE strip and bring uniform to change later, Thursday students must come in uniform and bring PE strip to change into.
• Consider having outdoor shoes or boots for playing outdoors especially in colder and wetter weather
• Allergy-aware school: please be aware and considerate of allergies within class, especially when sending in treats

Homework Expectations• Always posted to the class website. Also posted on the whiteboard and it is the
student’s responsibility to record in their agendas.
• Students respond to the weekly blog post directly on the website.
• Paragraph/written homework can either be done via students’ mycw /Google account where each student has already created a homework file or written in their homework notebook. If completed on the Google Drive, each time students complete an assignment it should be titled and dated. It will then automatically be shared with me. This has already been set up for each student.

Camp Summit
Outdoor School•Emily from Camp Summit has already
given an informative presentation, however if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

SEL• As a school we know that a strong SEL program helps children
develop into happy heathy adults.
• Wentworth SEL Definition
• “Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process of learning 5 important life skills: self-awareness, social-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, & responsible decision making. SEL skills help you become a thriving person, friend, and student.”
• This year we will work with our students to deepen their understanding of the 5 SEL competencies. Using a new SEL self-assessment tool, students will work with their teachers to set personalized and meaningful SEL goals. These goals will be shared with parents at conferences and in homeroom reports.
