Chapter 3: Deployment model The deployment model includes 3 layers with recommended and optimal
deployment options:

Chapter 4: Installation framework The Installation Framework includes installing the download exe’s in three Server
specific options that are represented in the below diagram:
1. MMS Drug Installer is installed in DB Server
2. Medtech Evolution 1.5 is installed in Client/Application Server
3. Medtech Fax Service, Diagnostic Service, Message Transfer Service [NIR] and
Shell Service are installed in Application Services Server

Chapter 5: Installation Guide
Database Server Fresh database
1. Execute EvolutionDB_Fresh1.5.3.11.exe, which is available as a part of the
download installer.
NOTE: Make sure to execute the installer from the respective database
server.
2. Double click or right click the EvolutionDB_Fresh1.5.3.11.exe and click ‘Run
as Administrator’ to launch the Installation Wizard.
3. Click ‘Next’ button to continue.

4. Click on ‘Browse’ button to select the License File.
5. Click on ‘Next’ button to continue.
6. Click ‘Browse’ button to select the Database Server from the list or
manually type the Database Server Name.
7. Select the option ‘SQL Server authentication’. By default this option is
selected.
8. Type in the SQL login credentials for the corresponding SQL server.
9. Click on ‘Next’ button.
10. Enter the database name for creating a fresh database.
11. Click on ‘Browse’ button and set MDF file path for the fresh database.
12. Click on ‘Browse’ button and set LOG file path for the fresh database.
13. Click on ‘Next’ button.

14. Click ‘Install’ button to install to a fresh database. Queries will get
executed.
15. Click “Finish” button to complete installation.
16. Verify the log files in the following path ‘C:\Users\< User Profile >
\AppData\Local\Temp\Evolution ‘ to check the error messages as per
the screenshot below:

Contact Medtech Support Personnel immediately if you encounter any of the
messages similar to the messages provides in the attachment (LogFile.txt) or e-mail
us to [email protected]
LogFile.txt
Application Server (Client/Citrix/Terminal) Please ensure that you have checked all the items in the checklist:
1. Connect to your Client Desktop / Citrix / Terminal to install the application.
2. You must have Administrative privileges to access the Client Desktop / Citrix /
Terminal.
3. After successful login to the server, the following window is displayed when you
execute the EvolutionClient_32Bit_Fresh1.5.3.11.exe/
EvolutionClient_64Bit_Fresh1.5.3.11.exe files.
4 Medtech Evolution will be installed in C:\Program Files (or) Program Files(x86),
by default. The installation folder can be changed by clicking the ‘Browse’ and
selecting another folder.

5 To continue with the Installation, click on ‘I accept.
6 Upon selecting I accept the terms of the license agreement and clicking Next
button, the installation will continue.
7 The License file must be placed in your local machine.
8 Browse to the path where the License file is located and click on the ‘Next’
button.

9 The SQL database instance, its corresponding SQL credentials, and the
configured database should be selected.
10 Click on ‘Browse’ button to select the Database Server from the list or manually
type the Database Server Name.
11 Type in the SQL login credentials for the corresponding SQL server.
12 Once the database connection is established, the installer will be ready to
install the application. Click ‘Next’ to continue.

13 Click Install, the installation process will commence.
14 Click on “Finish” to complete installation and exit the Installation Wizard.
15 Open the application by double clicking the short cut icon “Medtech Evolution
1.5”.

16 Log into the application with the appropriate credentials. The application
prompts for the License File.
17 Click on the OK button. The Import License window is displayed.
18 Browse and select the License file from the path where license file is located.
19 Click on the ‘Import’ button. License File is imported successfully.

20 Click on the ‘Login’ button to launch the application.
Application Services Server Installing Medtech Message Transfer Service
Ensure that you have completed and checked all items in the Installation Pre-
Requisites Checklist.
1. Connect to your application services server to install the application.
2. Make sure you have sufficient login privilege to access the application
services server
3. Upon login to the server, execute Evolution_32Bit_MSGTNFR1.5.3.11.exe or
Evolution_64Bit_MSGTNFR1.5.3.11.exe (By double clicking or Right click Run
as Administrator).
4. Welcome to Install Shield Wizard for Message Transfer Service window is
displayed
5. Click on Next button to proceed further

6. Go to application installed path (“C:\Program Files\” (or) “Program Files(x86)
\”) and check MessageTransferService folder is created
7. If the installation path has to be changed then click on Change Button to
select the path.
8. Click on Next button
9. Read the license agreement and select the option I accept the terms in the
license agreement.
10. Click on Next button, the Database Server window is displayed.

Server
12. Select the Database Server from the list
13. Enter SQL server credentials

18. Click on Install Button to install the Message Transfer Service program. The
window displays the status with a progress bar.

20. Browse and select the License file from the path where license file is located
and click on Next button.

23. Go to application installed path (“C:\Program Files\” (or) “Program
Files(x86) \”) and check MessageTransferService folder is created and
check the respective dll’s are placed inside the Folder.
Installing Medtech NIR Message Transfer Service
Ensure that you have completed and checked all items in the Installation Pre-
Requisites Checklist
1. Connect to your application services server to install the application.
2. Make sure you have sufficient login privilege to access the application
services server
3. Upon login to the server, execute Evolution_32Bit_NIRMSGTNFR1.5.3.11.exe or
Evolution_64Bit_NIRMSGTNFR1.5.3.11.exe (By double clicking or Right click
Run as Administrator).

4. Welcome to Install Shield Wizard for NIR Message Transfer Service window is
displayed
5. Click on Next button to proceed further

7. If the installation path has to be changed then click on Change Button to
select the path.
8. Click on Next button

Installing Medtech Shell Service

5. Click on Next button to proceed further
6. Go to application installed path (“C:\Program Files\” (or) “Program
Files(x86) \”) and check MedtechShellService folder is created or not.

6. Go to application installed path (“C:\Program Files\” (or) “Program
Files(x86) \”) and check MedtechDiagnosticService folder is created or not.

Chapter 6: Post Installation Checklist
1. If prompted to do so after Application Server installation, a reboot of
the server has been completed.
2. Login to Evolution and ensure that the database connection is
successful.
3.
Check the current Evolution installed version [Help About Medtech
Evolution]. After the upgrade has been run, this should read as
1.5.3.11.
4.
Please ensure that the following utilities/services are started
(services.msc):
Medtech Message Transfer Service Medtech NIR Message Transfer Service
Medtech Shell Service Medtech Fax Service Diagnostic Services
5. Please ensure that all staff can successfully log into Evolution without
errors.
6. Any errors encountered during the post installation process have
been recorded and provided to Medtech Support for assistance.
7. Make sure that the login user has the Administrative permission on the
computer in which you are installing the services.
