Subscribers want more, highly-engaging content, anywhere, at any time, on any screen, thus leading into ever increasing content growth and of the varieties in which it must be made available to enable such multiple consumption paradigms.

What’s more, an explosion of distribution channels has created the opportunity for more stakeholders to profit from video content delivery.

With pervasive content digitization and in an age of soaring content acquisition rights, maximizing revenues from every potential viewer is critical. To manage the increasing challenges of content distribution negotiations, Media & Entertainment organizations need to find and distribute the quality content that their viewers will enjoy, meet Content Rights & Fair use to be applied, whilst diversifying supporting business models to maximize return on investment.

Examples of such diversifications include Service Providers needing to improve the attractiveness of international channels. Also, national broadcasters willing to reach a regional audience (Regional News), enforcing Blackout on sections of the content for OTT delivery or enabling a Frame-Accurate Start Over service whilst disabling trick play on Ad Breaks. They also need to ensure adequate coverage of several countries

for an international channel by delivering multiple audio and/or subtitling tracks. Other examples include helping boost advertising revenues by selling localized Ads Inventory or monetize the intimate knowledge Service Providers have of their subscribers. This enables broadcasters to bundle such an asset with their Premium TV inventory to build a fully targeted Advertising value proposition to the Advertisers (Demand side) down to the user.

Content Distribution Rights

MediaKind bridges Content Providers’ and Service Providers’ worlds by streamlining information exchange process in support of distribution rights Definition and Enforcement.

We enable use cases including Regionalization, Content Localization, Blackout, Linear Ad Replacement and Advanced TV Advertising.

Content insertion for new media needs to support the same functionality as traditional broadcast methods, as well as provide new functionality specific to video over IP to grab the monetization opportunity HTTP-based media delivery has introduced. Content providers for example may need to frame-accurately signal placement opportunities related distribution rights whilst Service Providers need to ingest and enforce such rules.

In conjunction with MediaKind Video Processing & Delivery capabilities and MediaFirst TV Platforms solutions or with third-party vendors, we unlock the complexity of holding/maintaining placement opportunities, and corresponding rules/constraints by leveraging standards (SCTE-35, ESNI-224, ESAM) and streamline distribution rights related information exchange between Broadcasters and Operators.

By integrating directly with Broadcasters’ Automation systems,Frame-Accurate EPGs are enabled allowing for optimized Live to VODworkflows (without the requirement for any additional content editing), for “Smart Start-Over” or Dynamic Ad Insertion.

Use cases such as Regional/local switch-over or alternate content replacement including Blackout in a targeted or non-targeted manner are all enabled in a very simple way.

In combination with MediaKind Encoding Live Media Composing and Video Splicing unique capabilities we provide a fully integrated compact solution for Linear Advertising Replacement to address the 2 mn/Hr monetization opportunities granted by the TV networks to their Service Providers partners but also for enforcement of EAS related regulations or any other form of Multilayer Static & Motion Graphics overlay, in a scheduled or non-scheduled manner.

The world of TV advertising is meeting the Internet: from the traditional “one to many” broadcast approach of traditional TV, advertisers want to move to “one to one” conversations with targeted audiences. This change is pushing for a massive shi� from how advertising is being sold, how it is being displayed to how it is being accounted.

We deliver the platform enabling new ecosystems to build an alternative value proposition to the Internet pure players towards the Demand side by bundling Premium TV Inventory enriched with Segmented Audience.

Amongst our key capabilities we enable Pre/Mid/Post-roll SSAI (Server-Side Ad Insertion/ Replacement) across all workflows (Live, Catch-Up, Network/Cloud PVR, Start-Over, Time-Shi�ing) and all screens.

Being fully server-side, we ensure full ad-blockers resistance and remove the need for maintaining multiple client applications; in addition, this capability enables a completely seamless Quality of Experience by removing any latency at time of switching between original programming and replacing/inserting ad spots.

Audience Data constitutes an Operator’s key asset, thus requiring to be protected against possible leakage to the Demand side to ensure full monetization whilst simultaneously requiring full compliancy with Privacy Protection regulations such as GDPR law that just came into e�ect in Europe. We enable protection by maximizing the scope covered server-side and include a full abstraction layer between Operator’s CPEs and the Demand side.

In partnerships with leading Ad-Tech suppliers do we also embed full trading stack in support of Direct and/or Programmatic Inventory Sales Methods.
