What is Rock? and why I picked this

genreRock music was evolved from other music types such as jazz and blues and since then it had become very popular and has grown its own independence throughout the years.

I researched on other genres however they are very common such as Hip-Hop and R&B therefore I decided to do Rock as it would be a challenge for me. Its colour scheme and layout had motivated me to do a rock magazine.

Rock is heavy based which includes electric guitar and drums etc…

As it’s a rock magazine it is essential to make the model wear dark colors and wear dark makeup in order to represent the idea of rock. - the photography would take place in the leyton studio.

Bikers Jacket is also needed to show the latest trend in the industry of rock.

Shot Composition and Camera Angle

I would be taking my image of my cover star from a high angle this is because I want to experiment with different camera angle as to make my magazine more unique.

However, My other option would be a medium close up shot because this is a common convention that is used in all magazines.

PublisherI would want The music magazine publishers association (MMPA) to publish my music magazine this is because they have been well established in 1966 and since then they are well known and very reliable as they have gained experience over the years therefore I would like them to publish the magazine.

Dennis publishers are another established company who are very popular and are very independent they also have expanded over the years therefore they are another company that are worth considering. My Magazine would be

published every month as to keep the readers updated and it also allows time to design and publish another magazine.

Target Audience

My target audience is very broad and I would promote my Rock Magazine to 17-30

I would promote my magazine to male and females as my numbers of buyers would increase and therefore there would be an increase of profit made. Also the fact that if I promote my magazine to one specific gender group e.g. females, then certain amount of people would buy my magazine and men would not bother reading my magazine as it would be specifically for females therefore I am keeping my magazine for both genders.

Not many men would buy this type of magazine Main buyers would be female.

How does this relate to my case study

I analyzed Two Rock Magazines which were NME and Classic Rock. These two magazine made me understand all the conventions that are used in a common magazine.

Jewellery, makeup and costume is an important factor which is normally shown in an magazine because this an indication to the audience of what genre the magazine is.

e.g. if the cover star wore dark clothes and has got a punk look then this immediately shows that this is a rock magazine.

Distribution of Magazines

In order to promote my magazine and make people buy my magazine I would have to extend my brand on social networking sites such as facebook, twitter or instagram etc…

Ezines are a very good way to distribute the magazine as they are electronic version of the magazine, this is very convenient for people who may want to read it online.

They would be sold in Newsagent shops or by subscription such as postal and electronic.

Price

This is the price for my magazine this is because this is more affordable for working class people.
