Question 4: How Did You Use Media Technologies In The Construction

and Research, Planning And Evaluation?

Construction – Camera (Practise)• The camera we used in the

practise documentary was the Kodak Playfull. This was a small handheld camera that allowed shots to be taken very quickly and was an easy camera to use. It also allowed us to shoot in 720p meaning it gave us a high quality and professional feel to it.

Construction - Camera• The Sony HXR-MC2500E was the

perfect camera for us to film with. It could film in High Quality 1080p meaning that our shots would be clear. The camera also had a built in mic which was directional. This cut out any background noise whilst filming and also amplified the voice of our actors.

Research and Planning - Weebly

• I created my website using Weebly, this was a very useful as it was very simplistic and created a neat and clear look to the website. I could also embed from other software such as prezi and scribd. This particularly useful as it made the website look very neat and structured.

Planning – IPhone, Whatsapp

• Most of our communication was on our phones using the whatsapp app. Due to it being instantaneous it meant that it was easy to get in contact with the other members of my group. This was very helpful as it meant we could plan and discuss shooting times and could discuss ideas. We could send videos and photos sharing ideas within the group.

Research and Planning – E-Mail

• We also used e-mail in order to book cameras and get in touch with some of our actors. This meant everyone could keep up to date with what was going on and we could ensure that we would make use of our time once we came to the practical aspect.

Research and Planning - Prezi

• Prezi was a very good website for me as it created a different perspective to look at information. I could also link in youtube clips which was very useful as I could get an example of what a had written about that the viewer can see.

Research and Planning - Google

• This was the main search engine for our research. It was very fast and reliable. It was the ideal place to research topics into depth and provide us with lots of information that we did not already have.

Research and Planning - Youtube

• Youtube also was very useful for us as it gave us a visual example of some potential ideas. It also allowed us to upload and embed videos to the site and to my website.

Research and Planning - Slideshare

• Slideshare was very useful for me as it allowed me to upload a Microsoft PowerPoint. It is shown in a different and unique way. Allowing me to embed was also very useful.

Research and Planning - Scribd

• Scribd was useful for me as it allowed me to upload documents such as scripts and long pieces of texts into a neat visual making it look smart and well fit in on my website.

Soundcloud

• This was particularly useful for me especially for the Research and Planning and for the making of one our ancillary tasks. This was very easy to use and offered a different way to express our views.

Post Production – Final Cut Pro X• Final Cut Pro was very good for me

as it enabled me to edit the film easily but has advanced features such as colour correction. It also allowed us to stabilise so it meant that some of our handheld shots would come out not too shaky for the viewer. Not being so complex meant I did not waste too much time trying to figure out where everything was and could start editing straight away.
